Built only 5 years ago, but looking as though it has been there for centuries, this is a veritable oasis in the desert. This is a glorious Arabian Palace with courtyards, colourful shrubs, fountains and rooms filled with antiques from the souks. It is on the edge of the desert away from the Nile and Luxor but only 4 kilometres from the Valley of the Kings. • Take in the Sound and Light Show in Karnak
• Hire a bicycle and go into the countryside
• Take a car and driver and go and explore the area
