Blue Heron Hotel, Antigua

We arrived in Antigua not knowing what to expect having not been to the caribbean before.
We were met at the airport and quickly whisked away to the blue heron where we were greeted with a smile and a choice of rum or fruit punch .
If you choose the rum dont expect to walk to your room you may have to be carried it was so strong.
Our room was just perfect with fresh flowers sprinkled over clean white linen the air con was on and the room was cool and spotless.
When we were at the hotel we found some guests who had done the bookings of flights and hotels seperatley to save on the costs but if you take my advice dont bother.When we left our taxi was pre arranged for us and was on time and when we arrived at the airport we were again greeted and guided in the right direction and had a stress free passage through the airport system some others who traveled on the same flight got lost and stood in long Que,s that they didnt need to had they known so thanks to Tropical Sky for a perfect passage there and back.
There is plenty to see and do on the island the taxi,s are not cheap but the buses are and they are reliable safe and on time people told us to take us dollars but we found that if you do you will get change in east caribbean dollars so we used only EC dollars and we think you get a better deal that way.
If you decide to go to Blue Heron you will not be dissapointed the staff are great be sure to ask Errol the barman for the cocktail list he is an expert some of the food was not to my liking but i am a very fussy eater ie no onions tomatoes spices e.c.t but allowances were made and i ate food i liked at no extra cost how many places would do that on an all inclusive basis.
We would give one word of warning to any who travel to the caribbean please take a good supply of insect repellant we took Bens 100 which we bought in uk on the internet it is 95%deet and we only got bitten once other guests were bitten frequently as the stuff sold on the island is only 25%deet and not much use unless applied every 30 minutes our stuff lasts for ten hours.
To sum up we had the best holiday ever at the Blue Heron and would reccomend it to anyone who wants a relaxing holiday with no hassle no youngsters under 16 and the best beach on the island and again special thanks to the hotel staff and management and not forgetting Lucy and all staff at Tropical Sky for the holiday of a lifetime

Excellent location, rooms etc. All Inclusive wasn’t quite so but a few words with Miss Francis and the hotel was back on track probably until we left! Suitable mainly for couples, went with a friend and her 2 children and weren’t really made welcome within the little groups that had formed. A long way to go for a beach holiday but hey, I can say wev’e been to Antigua!

This hotel is fabulous i was here in 2006 for my wedding which was a dream come true thanks to the staff and the great hospitality that we recieved they truly made my wedding day magical what more can i say married on a beach with great weather and fabulous staff i will definately be going back to this hotel ten out of ten is my rating thanks blue heron
