Dubai Growth Continues After Record Year

Global visitors to Dubai reached a record of 7,531,299 in 2008, with arrivals from the UK and Ireland rising by 13% to 906,611, according to official figures.
The emirate appears to be continuing to defy the global economic downturn with a two per cent rise in first quarter arrivals with 9.5 million passengers handled. January was the busiest month with 3.3 million passengers. In fact Dubai International was the only airport among the world’s top ten busiest to show positive growth in the last quarter of 2008 and the first quarter of 2009.
