Ecuador is a place of stunning scenery, climate, ecology and culture offering a unique and unbelievable diversity. From the fabled Galapagos Islands with their amazing variety of exotic overland and underwater wildlife, the magnificent snow-capped mountains and volcanoes and it’s quaint and colourful cities to the remote rainforests of the Amazon – the world’s largest tropical rainforest where everything grows on a bigger scale than in other places.

The capital city of Quito lies just above the equator and is a mix of a well-preserved colonial old town and cosmopolitan new town. To the south is Cotopaxi – probably the most spectacular mountain in the Valley of the Volcanoes.

Ecuador’s coast is a composition of beautiful lush green mangrove forests, a jungle, crystal clear waters, stunning white sandy beaches and many quaint fishing villages.

One of the word’s greatest destinations for nature lovers, the Galapagos Islands are situated 600 miles west of the Ecuadorian Coast. In 1978 they were declared as a World Heritage Site and subsequently a World Biosphere Reserve in 1985 by UNESCO. There are the different species of giant Galapagos tortoises, blue footed, red footed and masked boobies, flamingos, albatrosses, frigate birds, unique small penguins and non-flying cormorants to name but a few.
