Travel Guide to Lamu

Lamu forms part of the Lamu Archipelago islands, found just off the coast of Northern Kenya.  Visiting Lamu is like stepping back in time, donkey is the main form of transport, there is only one car on the island, belonging to the District Commissioner.  Lamu Town is a bustling port, just off the main street which aligns the ocean, the network of narrow streets is well worth an exploration.  The market, found just off the town square, is an assortment of colours, smells and tastes.
Indulge in freshly caught seafood, take a sunset dhow trip or simply sit, relax and watch the world go by. The pressures of day to day life will quickly lift while you settle into ‘Lamu time’
