The Okavango Delta is undoubtedly one of Africa’s most famous names – but only by going there can you really understand exactly how impressive it really is. This inland delta hosts Africa’s most incredible wildlife living in disharmonious perfection. Fertile and verdant, it is a complete contrast to sprawling sands of the Kalahari Desert that dominates the majority of Botswana. Visiting is difficult due to the lack of roads but if you do get the chance to come and see the sights, you’ll be treating to some of the world’s most jaw-dropping scenery. Chief's Island, set in the centre of the Okavango Delta, is one of the largest islands and offers up some amazing photographic opportunities due to the great views and wildlife. It's known for being a hive of game activitiy, thanks to its large herds of zebra, buffalo, impala and giraffe, to name a few. This must-see area is one of the highlights of this region, along with the various parks and reserves such as the Moremi Game Reserve - a national park which, though smaller than many of the others, still hosts a fantastically diverse array of animals and birdlife.
