If you are planning to visit St Lucia in December then check out one of the island’s greatest cultural events, the Kalalu Music Festival, which is held every year at Samaans Park in Choc Bay. Performers come from various African and Caribbean countries and have previously included Hugh Masekela (South Africa), Idrissa Diop (Senegal), Emeliene Michel (Haiti), Soukous Stars (Congo) and Jose Alberto (Puerto Rico), among many others.
The Almond Morgan Bay Beach Resort is an excellent value all-inclusive hotel for those looking to stay close to the Kalalu Music Festival. Located on the west coast of St Lucia and overlooking Choc Bay, it is just three miles from the capital city, Castries, and about 25 miles from Hewanorra International Airport.
Recently refurbished, it is set within 22 acres of lush gardens, with several gourmet restaurants, four bars, an excellent array of watersports, a gym, spa, tennis, golf and four swimming pools – including an adults-only and a children’s pool. For a great all-round holiday in St Lucia, the Almond Morgan Bay is an excellent choice.
St Lucia’s musical calender also includes the St Lucia Jazz Festival, which is running from May 1-10 in 2009.
