Explore The Magical Wonder Of Halong Bay, Vietnam

Once a hiding place for pirates, Halong Bay in Vietnam is one of the world’s most spectacular natural wonders.  A trip to this vibrant country would not be complete without a peaceful afternoon boat ride along Halong Bay’s emerald waters to take in the sensational beauty of over 3,000 tall stone islands, some of which vaguely represent the shape of dragons, roosters and old men fishing.  This magical and mysterious getaway feels as though you have escaped to a different world, and has been the inspiration behind many of the country’s legends – it is believed that the islands were formed by spitting dragons sent by the Gods as a protection barrier against Chinese invaders, keeping their land safe and leading to the eventual formation of the Vietnamese nation. 

Visitors to this historical setting spend hours exploring the island’s beaches, grottoes and caves (some of which are beautifully illuminated), which have been naturally created by wind and waves over hundreds of thousands of years.  Bai Tho Mountain is one of the highest and most iconic islands as it has inspired many poets over the years, including Emperor Le Thanh Tong, and is covered in engravings of hundreds of poems about emperors and famous figures. 

Now recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Halong Bay is the perfect location to go in search of hidden treasures, jewels, breathtaking marine life or even a snaring dragon!
