Paradis Hotel and Golf Club, Mauritius

Yesterday I wrote about our honeymoon in Mauritius. The first part of our holiday was based at the Beau Rivage. We then we moved onto the Beachcomber Paradis Hotel and Golf Club. The hotel is on its own private peninsula on the south west tip of Mauritius between Le Morne Mountain and the Indian Ocean.

We were met at the front entrance with a welcoming cocktail and cold towel to freshen up with. The check in was very quick and then we were taken by a golf cart to our room, a junior suite with a partial sea view and views across the lush gardens.

The room was a very good size with a lovely large bathroom and separate toilet plus a great patio with a table and chairs and a sofa. We did have a look at all the other room types and they are all decorated to a very high standard.

A good option for families would be to have one of the villas, which are just like a home from home. All lead straight on to the beach and have everything that you require.

The Paradis shares its facilities with its neighbouring sister hotel, The Dinorobin. This means that you have a choice of seven restaurants in total. The food and choice was excellent.

We also ate at the Blue Marlin, a seafood restaurant right on the waterfront and the Saveurs Des Iles French restaurant. We also dined at La Ravenne which was on the beach and reached by boat or even by golf cart. You can eat at all the restaurants on a half board basis but you can also pay supplements and eat from the al la carte menu.

The snorkelling is very good, and because there is a reef quite a way out you don’t have the waves breaking near the shore. There we lots of sun beds and shades on the beach and a few hammocks scattered around.

They operate a beach drinks service which is great when you can’t be bothered to put your book down and get off your sunbed. The Paradis is also in a good position to watch the sunet - just sit on your sun bed with a glass of wine and watch the sun go down.

Every evening in the main bar your will be able to hear the band and sometimes watch some local dancers. The hotel has a very calm and relaxing atmosphere and we can’t wait to go back!
