With delicacies including pigs foot, jerk chicken and salt fish common on the average Jamaican’s palate, who’d have guessed that in April this gastronomic island hosts an annual Caribbean Veggie Fest, which celebrates the delights of health-conscious vegetarian food.
Taking place at the Rhodes Hall Plantation in Hanover, the event is organised by Positive Tourism Network and the Caribbean Health Tourism & Spa Conference, who aim to promote healthier Caribbean diets and change people’s philosophy towards food. The focus will be on every conceivable type of vegetarian food available in the Caribbean including five star gourmet preparations, raw foods, healthy juices, natural pies, natural herbs and spices and natural wines from plant sources. Exhibitors will include vegetarian restaurants, vegetarian food purveyors, juice makers, natural seasoning producers, herb growers, and a farmers market. The festival will also include health and spa sections, where health and wellness professionals will showcase their skills and knowledge.
