Vietnam is one of the most recent countries in South East Asia to open its doors to tourism – and it’s a great choice for those who have experienced better known Thailand and Malaysia and have a taste for this exciting and exotic corner of the world.
Boasting soaring mountains, a killer coastline of unspoilt beaches and blanketed from head to toe with a patchwork of emerald-green rice paddies, Vietnam oozes the authenticity that’s gradually being lost elsewhere in South East Asia.
In addition, Vietnam’s culinary world is equally as colourful and pungent. Try delicate spring rolls dipped in nuoc mam, a fish sauce that is as compulsory as ketchup for the Vietnamese. Or play ‘down-in-one’ with xeo (rice wine), the whisky of the mountains.
Tropical Sky offers a choice of packages and tours encompassing many of Vietnam’s cultural, historical and beautiful sites. These include;
Saigon, or Ho Chi Minh City – The largest city in Vietnam and the base for trips to the Vietnam War-era Cu Chi tunnels and the Mekong Delta.
Hanoi – Although smaller than Saigon, this is the capital of Vietnam and boasts more cultural sites than anywhere else in the country.
Nha Trang – This coastal city is well known for its pristine beaches and excellent scuba diving. Very popular with holiday makers, Nha Trang Bay is widely considered as amongst the world’s most beautiful bays.
Hoi An – This quaint, riverside town has a traditional architecture and way of life. Now a protected UNESCO World Heritage Site, it is dotted with tile-roofed wooden houses and intriguing temples and shrines.
