St Nicholas Abbey – Plantation House, Barbados.

 

Whilst staying at the Colony Club in Barbados i went to visit St Nicholas Abbey which is a lovely plantation house.

It is situated on Cherry tree hill one of the most photographed views on the island. The current owner Larry Warren is restoring it to its former glory and re instating some of the orginal traditions. The Greathouse is opened downstairs to be viewed. there is also the Rum and sugar bond where you can sample the rum and buy some if you would like. There is a lovely shady courtyard over looking the gullies filled with giant mahogany trees where you can just sit with a cool drink and enjoy the view. You can spend as little or as much time at this great place exploring the flower gardens and talking to the cockatoos.
