According to a YouGov poll of 2,100 people recently published, more than three quarters of us plan to spend at least as much as last year on our cruise holiday despite the recession. Even during the credit crunch 78% of 45-54 year olds aim to spend the same on their 2009 cruise holiday, a third plan to spend more, while less than one in four (22%) expect to spend less…
The message seems to be getting through that cruising is not claustrophobic and offers security, mobility and comfort. The poll also found that once on board, the quality of accommodation and the interest level of the destinations were key factors although many also claimed that they missed the comfort of their own bed over friends, pets and even their family!
The poll also identified that cutting back on second holidays and short breaks was one way people are making sure they can afford a main break away. Asked what they would be prepared to sacrifice to pay for a cruise holiday, 29% picked second breaks, 49% would go without designer clothes, 43% could live without the latest gadgets and 43% also said they would cut right back on evenings out. A mere one per cent of this age group are influenced by the holiday’s green credentials the survey found.
That’s certainly reflected in the interest levels in Tropical Sky’s own cruise holidays. Star Cruises offer a wide choice of exciting itineraries across the Far East and India aboard excellent 4 star-standard ships including the SuperStar Gemini, SuperStar Virgo and SuperStar Libra. The range of Nile cruises also available offers all the comfort and facilities anyone could want with the added bonus of stunning weather and spectacular archaeological sites.
