While in Barbados you must visit Oistins on a Friday night for their weekly ‘Fish Fry’.

Staying at Almond Casuarina in St Lawrence Gap we took the local bus up to Oistins. It takes about 10 mins and cost $1.50 for a single. Don’t bother getting a taxi, the bus is much cheaper and a fun way to travel!!

Hundreds of locals flock here for the opportunity to enjoy the very best local food. This usually consists of fried and grilled fish, fish cakes, sweet potato, macaroni pie and coleslaw! With a huge selection of vendors to choose from, seating is readily available and the sounds of island music fills the air.

At around 8pm the party kicks into action, there is live music, stalls and plenty of places to buy an ice cold bottle of ‘Banks’ beer. We ate at Crystals, the food was superb, so much we could have shared one portion!

The party starts to quieten down around 11:30 ish – but for you more adventurous people, head up to McBride’s in St Lawrence Gap, a popular night spot, you can choose to dance the night away!!
