For those who dare, the Far East offers up some of the oddest ‘delicacies’ imaginable.  Barely believable until you see them squirming around in buckets at the food markets, juicy morsels including live cockroaches, crickets, frogs and grasshoppers are freely available by the scoop-load in countries such as Thailand and Vietnam.

If you are a little squeamish, these culinary delights are also available deep-fried and sun-blushed, so you could shut your eyes , swallow and perhaps think of….a sun-dried tomato, a raisin or in the case of the caterpillars, a French-fry!

If you’re into this stuff, you might be thrilled to hear you could also try beetles, ants, ant eggs and even cooked scorpions, whilst Vietnam exclusively offers up a delightful duck blood soup – made with raw blood, along with some other charming delicacies that I won’t even mention and almost certainly shouldn’t be tasted by anyone who’s ever had pets….
