Situated on the northwest corner of Malaysia in the Pehang state, the Cameron Highlands are approximately three and a half hours from Kuala Lumpur and 1500 metres above sea-level, near to the Titiwangsa Mountain Range. Considered one of the true wonders of Malaysia, the highlands are the area’s largest and most famous hill resort. Holidays to the Cameron Highlands also put you in an ideal location for fantastic walks in amongst the green tropical forests and hills but it is recommended to get a guide for the more strenuous trekking trails.

This flourishing highland paradise was discovered in 1885 by British surveyor William Cameron and still retains much of its colonial charm to this day. Temperatures here are much cooler and the air fresher than anywhere else in Malaysia making it a perfect break from the city. This area is also considered a favourite for honeymooners seeking a quiet getaway.

A Cameron Highlands holiday has much to offer in outdoor sightseeing including the tea plantations which offer tea making lessons and fresh tea sampling. Some of the most famous of the tea plantations include: Boh, Sungain Palas, and Cameron Valley. Other attractions are the strawberry and vegetable farms with wonderful fresh samples to buy and many museums and galleries giving insight into the history and development of this beautiful part of Malaysia.

The Cameron Highlands are full of beautiful natural scenery and sightseeing, creating a fantastic natural getaway from city life while enjoying one of Malaysia’s greatest treasures and best kept secrets.
