Rediscovering Barbados 20 years later with Keith & Roslyn

Keith and Roslyn holidayed in Barbados, staying at The SoCo Hotel. Here's what they had to say about their visit to the island...

We have been to Barbados once before, about 20 years ago, and have also visited Tobago, St Lucia, Antigua and Guadeloupe.

We wanted to try Barbados again and spoke to Jordan at Tropical Sky who told us about the Soco Hotel.  Her description sounded appealing and we decided to go ahead with the booking.

Everything that Jordan told us was accurate; the Soco Hotel is a small All Inclusive hotel, right on the beach.  Although All Inclusive, all of the meals are a la carte with around four or five choices for each course.  The food was well prepared, freshly cooked and nicely presented.

Another appealing feature is that the size of the hotel means that you get to know all of the other residents and there is a very friendly atmosphere around the hotel.

The rooms are spacious and well appointed and all of them face the sea and you can sit on the balcony watching the sun set in the evening or just enjoying the spectacular sight and sound of the waves rolling in.

The pool bar is another perfect location where you can watch the world go by or spot the turtles in the sea, coming in towards shore in the evening to eat the plants growing on the rocks.

Just by the hotel there is a natural pool that is protected from the sea by a sandbank that allows you to swim in relative safety or just to paddle out and observe all of the colourful fish swimming around your feet.

Barbados is a wonderful island with lots to do if you want it or a wonderful place to just laze around doing nothing other than watching the world going by.

We went shopping in Bridgetown, which was fun and also went to the Oistin Fish Fry, which was an interesting experience with some nice food in a lively crowded environment.  We ‘escaped’ on our final evening to a really nice restaurant along the Boardwalk, called Tapas where we enjoyed a lovely meal in a great location, right on the Caribbean Sea.

We would highly recommend the hotel to anyone.  All of the staff were really friendly and helpful, the location is perfect.  We believe that it is impossible not to have a great time at this hotel. Thanks for your help in making this a memorable experience.

We would like to thank Keith & Roslyn for sharing their story with us and hope to welcome you on another holiday soon.
