Discovery Bay by Rex Resorts, Barbados 

We celebrated our 25th wedding aniversary at Discovery Bay for 2 wks
in June last year it became our dream holiday and cannot wait to return next year. Thanks to the manager David,also Gregory,Karen,Evette,Andrea,Vernon,Adrian and all staff so pleasant and friendly! EVERYTHING PERFECT.........

this is paradise,what a fab place ,a great place to chill,everyone very polite,location top notch,food great very well presented and tasty well done to all the kitchen staff,bar staff very well mannered and polite and a special mention for karen i could go on for ever about this fantastic place,keep up the good work david(manager) ill be back thank you all.

just spent the most two beautifull weeks at this hotel,, where do i start ,,, well the staff was very friendly, there was a good virity of pipping hot food ,, our room was cleaned out every day , by rosey and they are trustworthy, bar staff lovely, linda on the beach dose hair for as little as £6, love her ,,, the gardens are fab, and david ramsay and the beach was lovely , going back in april , 2011. thanks discovery bay for a wonderfull 2 weeks ,,

Just come back from here. Despite lots of negative comments on the web I found the staff very friendly and helpful after all it is a two way street! It is right on the beach, which is quite small as it is a cove and sea is quite rough with undercurrents but I loved it as am a good swimmer. Lots of sun loungers so need to get up at 6 to bag one. Drinks lovely, I sampled lots of rum cocktails difrferent ones each day, and I don’t even like rum. Food excellent, maybe a bit of the same but it is difficult to please everyone and there was something for everyone and it was well cooked. Met lots of friendly guests. There was not a lot of entertainment this time of year, apparently there is more in the high season but it was lovely getting to know all the guests. The trip on the catarman is a must beautiful scenery and snorkelling great fun.

All the people from Barbados were very friendly in the streets and all spoke to us.

All in all would recommend and will definitely go back to Barbados maybe for a bit longer.

We have just returned from our first visit to Barbados and Discovery Bay. We hd the best time ever, the staff are very friendly and cannot do enough for you, the food was excellant. Cannot wait to go back again next year.

My wife and I stayed for a week in January 2010 to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary. We found the staff very professional, friendly, and helpful. A wonderful relaxing atmosphere was created. Other guests agreed that this hotel was a fabulous place to relax and enjoy the culture of Barbados. I would recommend Discovery Bay to anyone.

Just returned from our 5th visit to Discovery Bay. Each visit only gets better. It really was like being in Paradise. The hotel staff are all genuinely friendly and even the food gets better!

We had the most fantastic holiday at the discovery bay hotel in January 2010. The staff, especially Mr Prophet, Gregory, Andrea, Ann, Edwin, and Antoine, were all friendly and professional. The food was good and plentiful. The drinks were better than expected. The room was spacious and clean. The sea was safe and clean. We met lots of friendly people. We liked the relaxed atmosphere very much. Nightlife was almost non-existent other than the hotel bar but holetown has several lively bars and restaurants within 400 yards of the hotel. We particularly liked the open air karaoke in second avenue on sunday night. It is not the most modern or luxurious hotel on the island but this was the best value holiday we have been on and we will be going back to disco bay next year. We travel a lot and it is rare for us to find somewhere that exceeds our expectations in so many ways.

My daughter and I have just spent a fantastic 2 weeks holiday at Discovery Bay, just what we wanted. Our lovely room had great views of garden, pool down to the beach and sea; also we found everyone was friendly and helpful. The sea was rough .some days a red flag was flying but even then it was enjoyable relaxing in the sun and watching the sporting activities on the sea in December !.

we stayed 2 weeks all inclusive dec 6 cant wait till next year it was fab from start to finish staff could not be better be careful when booking we paid over £1300 each with kuoni &we met friends who paid£999 with tropical sky.for the same package will return next year as the hotel has a much better lay out than many of the more expensive ones

We spent a brilliant fortnight at the start of Dec 09. The place is in a beautiful setting and cleanliness and helpfullness could not be faulted. The gardens and beach are beautifull and the staff, from management to maintenance and security, are friendly, courteous and helpful. Tremendous All inclusive value - so much so that we have already booked to return next year and we have only been home 5 days!!! See you in 2010 and for years to come we hope! Regards, Bob & Carol

We have just returned from 9 nights at Discovery Bay and I have to say that it does exactly what it says on the tin. It’s 3 star and excellent value for money. We paid a little extra for a Ocean View Room which is well worth the money, yes the rooms could do with a bit of a make over,but they are more than adaquate for what we needed.
Breakfast was pentiful and well cooked,lunch was of a similar standard, dinner was well cooked, but I felt a little limited in choice, but unless you are very, very hard to please you would never go hungry. The staff were all very friendly if you treated them the same way, unlike some very rude guests we encountered who did not have a civil word for anyone,they will be the ones who think the staff are unfriendly.If you want a really good meal that’s not going to cost the earth try the Beach House, it’s a 5 minute walk from the hotel and costs $75 for2 courses or $85 for 3 courses,the setting is great and so is the food.I’ve stayed at quite a few hotels in Barbados over the years and yes the standard of accomadation and food has been slightly higher, but I’ve never had a better view from my room than the one I had at DB, plus there was a saving of around £1000 on the next level of hotel. Finally I would like to thank everyone at Tropical Sky for making the whole experince of booking,paying and traveling so painless, I had a bit of an issue on arrival at Grantley Adams airport when I was ushered into the customs area to be told that you are no longer allowed to take ciggs into Barbados duty free, my wife and I had 400 between us, we were told that they would let us off with the duty for 200, but we would have to pay $30 us for the other 200,so word of warning,do not by any before you arrive on the Island.

Our second visit to Discovery Bay some 14 years apart. A great improvement now that Rex own it. Great location Hotel staff so very friendly, rooms serviced daily, gardens beautiful with a well maintained swimming pool and an ideal beach area. A wonderful transformation regarding standard of food on offer. Small Hotels hold more appeal for us and although the Island was very quiet Discovery was fairly busy in comparison to other Hotels on the West Coast. A great deal with Tropical Sky and we would certainly look to book future holiays with them We have visited a selection of Hotels in Barbados and Discovery would be a definite consideration for our next visit. We would not choose to go in October again. It was the rainy season and far too hot for us and we were bothered by either sand flies or mossies.

just returned from another lovely holiday at discovery bay.Went with my son and 2 grandchildren.Bethany 3 and connor 7 had a lovely time so glad they changed it back from adults only.Rooms were spotless,beds were comfortable staff were lovely.The hotel is in a good position on the west coast handy for holetown and the bars and restaurants on 1st and 2nd street.Going back at the end of november with my husband and 2 of our friends.We had such a good time there last november cant wait to get back.

What a fantastic place its paradise, we booked with Tropical Sky on a last minute decision they arranged everything for us and we flew out 9 weeks later to get married. On arrival we were greeted by Jenny on Reception and Mr Profit who was out wedding planner we were offered tropical rum punch.
We were given our room key and our bags were taken up to our room when we got in to the room it was nice and cool and it was Huge there was flower petals on the bed as well as beach towels and fresh flowers we opened our curtains and thought there had been a mistake we were in a sea view room and we were booked in to a Garden view room it turned out we had been up graded the rooms were cleaned and sheets were changed every day.
The staff were fantastic they couldn’t do more for you the staff knew you by name it was very personal.
The food was beautiful you had a choice of salad or soup for starter and a variety of main meals form king fish to red snapper, chicken, beef or pork with vegetables, rice, and potatoes, Pudding were a choice of cakes and Ice Cream wine was served at your table and water and the staff always asked what kind of day you had. The Alcohol was also a bonus the cocktails are fantastic Thanks Andrea, Paulette and Gregory.
The pool area was always clean and tidy as well as the gardens the Green Monkeys and mongoose are often seen around the pool area the gardens in Discovery Bay are the best kept on the Island.
Discovery Bay has the best part of the beach on that stretch the water is calm and is perfect for snorkelling and the raft is a nice swim out.
Our wedding day was perfect you were made to feel really special we had no stress at all Mr Profit took care of everything all we has to do was go in to Bridgetown and get our marriage licence He arranged everything else from the flowers and the cake he just asked what colour I would like, Mr profit also arranged the photographer and booked the Hair Salon appointment we were offered witnesses if we needed them but we didn’t as my Dad and friend Andrea were coming out to join us for the wedding. The Alter on the beach was made in front of our room the morning of the wedding the gazebo was also decorated for us every little detail was taken care of. We met some fantastic people out there Bettie my Mum whilst I was there form Ireland who has been going there for the last 5 years thank you for everything and our two Czech Friends and bump you all made our wedding day really special.
To all the staff at Discovery Bay Tank you so much you made our dreams come true your home is out paradise Ill see you next year.
All in all it was a perfect holiday I would recommend Discovery Bay to everyone.

Stayed here 20 times brilliant hotel. Staff are excellent. My wife is disabled in a wheelchair and has no problems at all. Very good value for the money. Lots of repeat visitors.

Had a wonderful time and can’t wait to go back. Staff were lovely, anything you wanted was never ever any trouble for them and so friendly. Unfortunately I was unwell during my stay and I could not have been looked after better!! Some parts of hotel are tired but hey, we are all getting older and in need of repair!! Value for money - give it a go xxx

My sister and I stayed here for two weeks in September/october and couldnt fault it, lovely staff, lovely clean room, the staff are cannot do enough for you, we loved it. Stayed at two other hotels due to flight delay and they didnt come anywhere near to this one - highly recommended cant wait to get back there!!!!
