Flight Information

Direct flights from London to Cairo and Sharm El Sheikh Airport are approximately 5 hours. If you have prebooked transfer arrangements with us you will be met on arrival by our Tropical Sky representative who will guide you to your transfer vehicle.

Visa Requirements

A passport valid up to six months is required for British Nationals. A tourist visa is required. This can be obtained in advance or upon arrival. Please check before travelling as visa details can change.

Weather

Egypt has two seasons: a hot summer from May-October and a cool winter from November-April. Generally days are warm or hot and evenings are cooler. In the winter the desert can reach 0 Celsius at night and up to 18 Celsius during the daytime. Egypt has very little rainfall and is quite dusty and warm year round. In the summer temperatures can reach upwards of 41 degrees with evenings around 10.

Language

Egyptian Arabic is the official language. English may also be spoken in some tourist areas and restaurants.

Currency

The official currency is the Egyptian Pound (EGP).

Ramadan

The holy month of Ramadan will be celebrated from the 20th July - 18th August 2012. During Ramadan, Muslims all over the world abstain from food, drink, and other physical needs during daylight hours. As a result hotels in Egypt have restrictions on alcohol, food consumption and entertainment between sunrise and sunset. At nightfall these restrictions are lifted and normal eating, drinking and entertainment policies are resumed.
