Overview

Explore three of the world’s most fascinating countries on this incredible three-week tour through China, Mongolia and Russia. After visiting some of China’s most iconic sites – the Great Wall, the Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square – you’ll go on stunning rail journey through Mongolia. On the way you’ll stop off in some of the country’s most impressive locations including capital city Ulaanbaatar and Terelj National Park. You’ll then take a once-in-a-lifetime journey on the Trans-Siberian Railway through the east of Russia before reaching the magnificent cities of Moscow and St Petersburg. (GCL)

Day 1

Beijing

Arrive in Beijing

Day 2-3

Beijing/Great Wall

On the second day you’ll enjoy a guided tour around two of the city’s most impressive sites – the Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square. You’ll also have to free time spend seeing the city at your own pace.

On day three you’ll travel out to the Great Wall at Mutianyu. Here you’ll be able to walk along the wall itself and get a sense of the history of this remarkable achievement. You’ll then return to Beijing to stay overnight.

Day 4

China-Mongolia Railway

Today you’ll board a train in Beijing and enjoy the first stretch of the amazing rail journey on the Trans-Siberian Railway.  Enjoy stunning views of the Great Wall of China, picturesque mountains and arid Mongolia.

Day 5-7

Ulaanbaatar/Terelj National Park

After enjoying stunning views from the rest of your train journey, you’ll arrive in Ulaanbaatar around midday of day five. You can spend the day exploring the museums, shops and restaurants. On the sixth day you’ll go on a tour of the city with a local guide. The tour will take you to an impressive temple, the wonderful Winter Palace and visit Zaisan Hill for incredible views.

On day seven you’ll leave the city to visit Terelj National Park – a stunning alpine park with magnificent rock formations and emerald-green forests.

Day 8-9

Trans Mongolian Railway

You’ll return to Mongolia’s capital Ulaanbaatar today with a little free time before boarding the train for your next journey. It will be a 40-hour ride taking you through Siberia. On day 9 you’ll stop off in the small town of Naushki where you’ll be able to get off the train and have a look around before continuing on the journey to Irkutsk.

 Day 10-11

Irkutsk/Lake Baikal

On day 10 you’ll reach the charming city of Irkutsk, sometimes referred to as the Paris of Siberia. After arriving you’ll take a short bus ride to the stunning nearby Lake Baikal. You’ll get settled into the hotel then get the chance to take a guided tour of the museum which shows off the history of the place.

On day 11 you’ll return to Irkutsk where you’ll have a leisurely day to have a look around. This is a very beautiful city with a huge range of things to do. Later in the evening you’ll board a train to continue your journey on the Trans-Siberian Railway.

Day 12-13

Trans-Siberian Railway

Continue your journey on this iconic railway enjoying the stunning views and getting a real taste of what it is likely to ride the longest railway in the world. The journey is another 40-hour trip and on day 13 you’ll arrive in Ekaterinburg

Day 14

Yekaterinburg

Spend a day in this Ural town and take a look around – it’s very different from anywhere else on the trip and a fascinating place to be. Make sure you search out the Church of All Saints.

Day 15

Trans-Ural Rail Journey

On the morning of day 15 you’ll re-board the train, with this time its destination being Moscow. Today you’ll pass through the Urals region and reach what is considered to be the European side of Russia.

Day 16-18

Moscow

You’ll arrive into Moscow on the morning of day 16 and transfer to your hotel for the next three days. The rest of the day is free to relax and enjoy the Russian capital. On the 17th day you’ll take a guided tour of the Kremlin and the Armoury Museum, then enjoy a free afternoon.

On day 18 continue your exploration of Moscow before you board the final train of the tour – your destination is St Petersburg.

Day 19-20

St Petersburg

You’ll arrive in St Petersburg early in the morning on day 19. This gives you a full day to explore the city’s architecture and take a walking tour of the city – you’ll also have an afternoon at leisure to do what you like. On day 20 you’ll visit the Hermitage Museum – undoubtedly one of Russia’s finest museums. This will be the last day with your tour group, giving you a chance to reminisce about the trip and say your goodbyes.

St Petersburg

Depart St Petersburg today. (Transfer is not included)
