Experience authentic Burma on this captivating 12-day tour. Starting and finishing in the largest city, Yangon, you’ll visit some of the most impressive sites the country has to offer including the iconic Mandalay and the famous ancient capital of Bagan. Details

Day 1

Yangon

Arrive in Yangon and have your first group meeting followed by an optional dinner to sample the local cuisine.

Day 2-4

Mandalay

Early in the morning of day two you’ll transfer to the airport for a flight to Mandalay. Once you’ve arrived you’ll explore this impressive ancient city and explore sites including the Golden Palace Monastery, Kuyuk Taw Gyi Pagoda, Kuthodaw Pagoda and Mahamuni Temple. To finish the day you’ll climb Mandalay Hill for stunning views of the countryside.

On the third day you’ll enjoy a boat trip to the village of Mingun where you’ll get the chance to see pagodas and meet local craftspeople. On day four you’ll go on an excursion to a former British hill station, Pyin Oo Lwin.

Day 5

Bagan

Today you’ll take a boat to Bagan – a journey than takes between 7 and 11 hours depending on the time of year. There’s a small café on board offering light meals and snacks. The boats are sometimes cancelled between April and September – in this case you’ll travel by bus.

Day 6-7

Bagan

Over the following two days you’ll have plenty of time to explore Bagan the stunning former capital of Burma. The temples here are truly stunning and impressive, and it was one of the most important temple complexes in all of Asia. You’ll have the option to take a jaw-dropping hot air balloon flight to enjoy fabulous views.

The rest of your time spent here will include exploration of the city including the markets, the pagodas and a visit to a monastery. You’ll also get the chance to take in a village on the outskirts of the city and learn from a traditional lacquer ware workshop. On day seven you’ll meet a local family and enjoy a delicious and authentic lunch.

Day 8-9

Inle Lake

In the morning of day eight you’ll fly from Bagan to Heho and then continue your journey on to Nyaung Shwe, the gateway to the beautiful Inle Lake. Once you’ve arrived you’ll board a boat and take a journey down the canal towards the lake itself. You’ll pass villages built over the water on stilts and enjoy impressive scenery. On day nine you’ll visit the morning market and then get to see the Nga Hpe Chaung Monastery.

Day 10

Kalaw

Today you’ll travel by boat to Kalaw – a former British hill station. You’ll then have the option to take an afternoon trek or simply relax.

Day 11

Yangon

After breakfast you’ll drive to the airport at Heho for a flight back to Yangon. The afternoon offers time to explore the city including the famous Shwedagon Pagoda and doing some shopping.

Day 12

Yangon

Depart Yangon today. (Transfer is not included)
