Overview

This 10-day tour shows off Burma at its most beautiful. You’ll take in plenty of incredible sites, including Yangon, the largest city, with its impressive markets, statues and pagodas. After a cruise of stunning Inle Lake you’ll reach the famous Mandalay, the royal capital. Then take in the stunning temples and traditional lifestyle in Bagan before returning to Yangon. (AP)

Details

Day 1

Yangon

When you arrive at Yangon airport you’ll be met and transferred to your hotel. In the evening you’ll meet your tour guide and the other members of your tour group and enjoy a welcome dinner together.

Day 2

Yangon

After breakfast you’ll have a morning at leisure to explore Yangon, which is the former capital and largest city in Burma – talk to your travel guide about optional excursions. Later in the afternoon you’ll visit the Reclining Buddha and marvel at the Shwedagon Pagoda, a stunning golden spire.

Day 3

Inle Lake

Today you’ll transfer to Yangon airport and take a flight to Inle Lake. On your arrival in Heho airport you’ll be met and transferred to the stunning Ayetharyar Winery. Then after lunch you’ll transfer to your hotel on Inle Lake. Situated on a hillside, the resort offers spectacular views of the lake and the rolling hills.

Day 4

Inle Lake/Indein

Today you’ll be taken out on the lake in a traditional long-tail boat and explore the villages of the region. You’ll be able to visit a local market before enjoying lunch from the traditional Shan kitchen at Ann’s Restaurant. After lunch you’ll stop off at Indein on the west bank of the lake where you’ll get the chance to see the Indein ruins.

Day 5

Inle Lake/Mandalay

Today you’ll take in some of the authentic wonders of the local area. You’ve got a huge range of options including the Silverware Cottage in Ywama Village, the famous Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda or the weaving village of Inn Paw Khon.  After lunch you’ll be driven back to your hotel and transferred on to Heho airport for your flight to Mandalay. On arrival you’ll transfer to your hotel and then enjoy a lovely dinner at A Little Bit of Mandalay restaurant.

Day 6

Mandalay

Get up early today for a delicious breakfast and then take a morning walking tour of the large markets of Mandalay. You’ll find everything from fantastic food stalls to fabric shops and jewellers. You’ll then move on to see the Shwe In Bin Teak Monastery and take in a range of other activities. The rest of the day is yours to enjoy at leisure with your tour guide available if you need any help planning anything.

Day 7

Mandalay/Bagan

After a lovely breakfast at your hotel you’ll take a day cruise on the Ayeyarwaddy River towards Bagan. On board this small luxury boat you’ll enjoy a great lunch and witness rural Burmese life from a unique perspective. In the afternoon you’ll arrive in Bagan where you’ll be transferred to the hotel. Here you can explore the hotel’s magnificent gardens and take a leisurely dinner.

Day 8

Bagan

Take the morning of day nine at leisure to have a look around this ancient city. You’ll take a look at local markets and get the chance to explore some of the resplendent temples. In the evening, watch a stunning sunset over the river.

Day 9

Bagan/Yangon

In the morning you’ll visit a traditional lacquer-making shop and explore nearby villages. In the afternoon you’ll transfer to the airport for your flight back to Yangon where you’ll have some free time to explore. This evening enjoy a farewell dinner with the tour group.

Day 10

Depart Yangon

After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your flight home.
