Useful Facts

Flights and Transfers

You cannot fly direct to Hua Hin from the UK. Instead you have to fly from London to Bangkok, with a flight time of approximately 12 hours. Once you have arrived in Bangkok you will either take a train, bus or taxi to the resort you’re staying at.

Visa Requirements

British passport holders do not require a visa for stays of up to 30 days. Your passport must have six months of validity on it, you must have a return or onward ticket and you may be asked to prove you have sufficient funds for the duration of your stay. All travellers should check full entry requirements prior to travel by visiting the FCO website or by contacting the relevant embassy.

Language

Thai is the official language, although English is spoken as a second language by many people especially around the tourist spots.

Transportation

Songthaews are cheap and useful for getting around on fixed routes. If you want to choose your destination you’ll need a tuk-tuk, motorcycle taxi or standard taxi. Tuk-tuks are surprisingly expensive, although by far the most readily available.

Currency

The official currency is the Thai baht.

Electricity

220V, two or three (grounded) flat or round prongs.
