Overview

Take in the sights of Thailand, combining beach and culture, on this 15-day tour adventure through Thailand's beautiful landscape. Journeying through the bridge over the River Kwai, the Ayutthaya Historical Park, Chiang Mai, Bangkok, Koh Samui and ending your trip in Krabi, you will have a fantastic opportunity to see why Thailand is such a popular and fascinating destination to explore. This is a tour with a difference, travelling in a small group of an average of 12 and never more than 16, the emphasis is on local experiences and encounters. Your tour guide really knows the country inside out, they can take you to places you'd never chance on if you were travelling on your own. (GCO)

Details

Day 1

You will be met on arrival at Bangkok Airport and transferred to your hotel. The remainder of the day is yours to spend at your leisure and this evening you'll meet with your guide for a tour briefing and a chance to meet the rest of your travel companions.

 

Day 2

Today will be spent in Kanchanaburi, where you’ll visit the Allied War Cemetery, Thai-Burmese Railway Museum and the JEATH Museum followed by a train ride over the Bridge on the River Kwai and through the Kwai Noi Gorge. This is a great way to explore some of Thailand's history and the scenery from the renowned River Kwai.

 

Day 3

Today you can spend the day at the stunning waterfalls of Erawan National Park. This seven-tiered waterfall feeds into the Mae Nam Khwae Yai and offers a lovely walking trail. This evening, you’ll enjoy a  cruise on a converted 1930's rice barge taking in the sites of the city at night whilst enjoying dinner.


Day  4

Spending another day in Ayutthaya, explore the UNESCO World Heritage Listed Ayutthaya Historical Park, Thailand’s capital from the 14th to 18th centuries, then return to Bangkok for your flight to Chiang Mai.
 

Day 5

Enjoy a day in Chiang Mai, today you will visit Doi Suthep Temple, officially known as Wat Phra That Doi Suthep, one of the most sacred Buddhist temples in Thailand. A popular tourist site, this temple is set just 15 minutes from Chiang Mai. The views and serenity, your reward after climbing over 300 stairs to reach the top, are breath-taking. In the evening travel into the countryside and enjoy a traditional Khantok meal - a speciality of Northern Thailand. The Khantok is a wooden tray used for carrying different tapas style dishes and your host will invite you to gather around the Khantok and experience some true Thai hospitality.

Day 6

Today sees you spend a second day in Chiang Mai and the morning and early afternoon will be spent at your leisure. Later you take a Thai cooking school and enjoy the fruits of your labour for dinner - a great way to experience Thai culture at its very best.


Day 7

Fly back to bustling Bangkok and hop on a long tail boat ride along the bustling Chao Phraya River. You’ll also pay a visit to Wat Pho temple which is also referred to as the Temple of the Reclining Buddha. This is believed to be the birthplace of the original Thai message and a popular attraction with visitors to Thailand. The image of the reclining Buddha is one which has become synonymous with Thai culture. 

 

Day 8

Today is to be spent at your leisure in Bangkok - spend time exploring the markets, go on a cycling tour through the bustling streets or experience a cultural show of traditional dancing perhaps. Alternatively, why not visit a traditional Buddhist temple and either learn the art or experience of classic Thai massage.

 

Day 9

Fly to the tropical island of Koh Samui today, then the afternoon is yours to spend at  your leisure. Koh Samui is famous for its beaches, so why not spend the afternoon lapping up the sunshine and the spectacular views with some time on the pristine shores.

 

Day 10

Today is spent visiting the Angthong Marine National Park, where you can kayak along the stunning coastline of Koh Mae Ko. Try an easy but spectacular climb through to the Talai Nai or 'Green Lagoon', with a spectacular island viewpoint. In the afternoon visit Tai Plao Island.

 

Day 11

Today is at leisure in Koh Samui - why not go diving, or seek out some of the authentic local dishes at one of the many restaurants dotted around the area.

 

Days 12

Fly to the tropical paradise of Krabi today and spend the day chilling on the beach. In the evening grab a cocktail before dinner and watch the sunset over the Andaman Sea.

 

Day 13

Today you will spend another day exploring Krabi. Visit Maya Bay, and the surrounding smaller islands. It's then on to Phi Phi where the film "The Beach" was filmed, with the incredible Viking Cave - where locals go to collect Swift's nests to make the chinese delicacy Bird Nest Soup. In the afternoon, stop at Leamtong beach for lunch, before going to Hiun Klang then a stop off at Bamboo Island and Khai Nai Island.

 

Day 14

Today is to be spent at your leisure on your last day in Krabi - go diving, take a charming boat trip or explore the markets and do a spot of shopping, where you can pick up some souvenirs and local art or handicrafts.

 

Day 15 - Bangkok

Fly back to Bangkok, arriving late afternoon and then take your onward flight home.
