Day 1

Arrive in Hanoi

You’ll arrive in the bustling capital city of Vietnam where you’ll be picked up and transferred to your hotel in the city centre. The rest of the day is yours at leisure to rest up or take a quick peak around the local streets. In the evening you’ll meet for a welcome dinner with your tour guide; you’ll be taken to a restaurant serving fine Vietnamese cuisine – Quan An Ngon – or choose from a wide range of options.

Overnight: Hilton Hanoi Opera Hotel (dinner included)

Day 2

Hanoi

Today is a special day exploring the best of Hanoi. You’ll be taken on an early morning cyclo tour passing through the Old Quarter and taking in the views of Hoan Kiem Lake before returning to the hotel for breakfast.

Afterwards you’ll travel to the Temple of Literature, Vietnam’s first university, founded in 1076. The university ran for more than 700 years and today stands as incredible well preserved architecture and a fascinating look into the history of the country.

Continue onwards to the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum where you’ll learn about the father figure of modern Vietnam. You’ll also visit the former president’s home found on stilts, showcasing the modest living intrinsic of Vietnam’s past. Later you’ll see the One Pillar Pagoda

You’ll then have lunch with a real life puppet master! After your food this seventh-generation puppet maker will teach you about Vietnamese storytelling and you’ll learn how the puppets are made. Children will love getting an up close look at the water puppets, which have entertained the Vietnamese since the 11th century.

You’ll then head back to the hotel to stay overnight.

Overnight: Hilton Hanoi Opera Hotel (breakfast and lunch included)

Day 3

Danang/Hoi An

Today you’ll transfer to the airport for a short flight to Danang. Once you have arrived you’ll pick up your bikes for a relaxed cycle along the flat coastal route to the town of Hoi An.

On arrival you’ll check into the hotel where you are free to spend a little time relaxing. You can swim in the pool, head to the beach for sunbathing or chill out in the hotel’s garden. You’ll stay here overnight.

Overnight: Boutique Hoi An Resort (breakfast and lunch included)

Day 4

Hoi An

Today is your chance to experience the beauty and charms of rural Vietnam as you take a half day excursion through Hoi An. Early on you’ll head out of the city centre into the surrounding countryside for a bike ride on narrow country paths. As you make your way through the rural scenery you’ll be treated to views of rice paddies, vegetable farms, water buffalos and other wildlife.

Next you’ll head onto the water in a traditional Vietnamese fishing boat where you’ll learn how to catch fish the way that fisherman here have done for centuries. On board a boat you’ll have a tasty seafood lunch.

In the afternoon you have a range of options available. You can choose to spend some time at the beach, relax at the hotel’s swimming pool or join a scavenger hunt through Hoi An’s old town. The rest of the evening is yours at leisure and you’ll stay here overnight.

Overnight: Boutique Hoi An Resort (breakfast and lunch included)

Day 5

Hoi An

Today you have a choice of activities – either go snorkelling or rock climbing. These activities are optional and you can choose to simply enjoy a relaxed day making the most of Hoi An, but lunch will not be included for those who do not participate in the activities.

If you choose to go rock climbing you’ll travel to the Marble Mountain area where you can take a safety class, learning the knots you need to know how to tie and the basic techniques in climbing. For more experienced climbers you can enjoy these beginner climbs as a chance to stretch out and warm up.

After you’ve limbered up and got into the swing of things the rest of the climbing is up to you. You can either choose to enjoy a relaxing climbing experienced or really push yourself – it’s all down to personal preference.

After the morning of climbing you’ll have a picnic lunch of vegetables, fruits, baguettes and pastries, with the option to do more climbs or cave exploration in the afternoon. You’ll be back at the hotel by mid-afternoon.

The other option is to take a snorkelling excursion to Cham Island. You’ll take a private speedboat to the island where you’ll go snorkelling on a coral reef before getting the chance to explore Cham Island itself. You’ll then have a delicious BBQ lunch before more opportunities for swimming, treks and other exploration. You’ll then return to the hotel for the afternoon.

Overnight: Boutique Hoi An Resort (breakfast and lunch included)

The rest of today is yours at leisure to explore Whale Island. If you wish to go diving or snorkelling on the next day you’ll need to register today with a small charge.

Overnight: New World Saigon Hotel (breakfast included)

Saigon/Mekong

You’ll ride along the backroads crossing canals, past traditional villages and through fruit gardens. You’ll stop off on the way to see some authentic Vietnamese workshops to watch crafts.

Later on you’ll arrive at a family-run orchard which grows a range of exotic tropical fruits. The owner will tell stories and offer you some fresh produce. You’ll then leave and take a sampan boat ride along the river. You’ll leave the boat to see a century old house with mixed European and Vietnamese design. Here you’ll have lunch of classic Mekong River dishes.

After lunch you’ll say goodbye to your hosts and travel back to Saigon, where you’ll have dinner and spend the night.
