Flight Information

There are currently no direct flights to Koh Samui Island. Flights from London to Bangkok Suvarnabhumi airport are around 12 hours. Once in Bangkok you can travel by air, rail + ferry, or bus + ferry. Travel by air is possible direct from Suvarnabhumi airport the quickest but also the most expensive. Trains depart from Bangkok Hua Lamphong railway station direct to Surat Thani station next to a pier where you can board a ferry to the island. Bus trips are also available although these are an additional 12 hours.

Visa Requirements

A visa is not required for stays of up to 30 days. Six months valid passport is required and you must have a return or onward ticket unless a tourist visa is obtained prior to arrival. All visitors are required to prove evidence of sufficient funds during their stay. All travellers should check full entry requirements prior to travel by visiting the FCO website or by contacting the relevant embassy.

Weather

Located on the Gulf of Thailand, the weather here is a monsoon climate, with very high temperatures and humidity all year round. September through November often features the most rainfall but even in this season, rain tends to be intermittent and followed by sunshine. Generally, this island is very warm and sunny.

Language

Thai is the official language though English may also be spoken in tourist areas.
