Memberships and Regulatory Compliance

Tropical Sky Limited is a member of many relevant travel organisations, some of which are detailed herein. As a UK based tour operator, we are also completely compliant with the EU Package Travel Regulations 1992 which looks after the interest of the travelling public. The most important membership and regulation comes from the ATOL licence. ATOL licencing is very rigid and ensures a company has the correct financial stability to provide safe holidays as well as offering the financial protection you need over any monies paid for your holiday.

ATOL (Air Travel Organiser’s Licence)

Tropical Sky is fully ATOL bonded with the CAA (ATOL Number 9759).

The CAA is the UK's aviation regulator overseeing air safety, airspace regulation and consumer protection through the management of the Air Travel Organisers' Licensing (ATOL) scheme. All air tour and holiday operators in the UK are required by law to hold an ATOL licence which requires the deposit of a substantial financial bond with the CAA. ATOL prevents you losing money or being stranded abroad should there be problems with your tour provider by refunding any monies paid or arranging for those already abroad to finish their holiday and fly home.

IATA (International Air Transport Association)

Tropical Sky is also involved with IATA, the main forum for inter-airline cooperation in promoting safe, reliable, and economical air services. At its founding, IATA had 57 members from 31 nations, mostly in Europe and North America. Today it has some 230 members from 126 countries throughout the globe.

CTO (Caribbean Tourism Organisation)

Tropical Sky is a member of the CTO which sets out to support tourism across the Caribbean region. It aims to help ensure that tourists are offered the best range of options and delivered the best possible experiences during any visit. IAGTO (International Association of Golf Tour Operators)

Tropical Sky is a full member of IAGTO. The organisation estimates it oversees 85% of golf holidays sold worldwide. It provides great contacts to ensure the best deals are available to members, new opportunities to bring new ideas and new packages to customers as well as training and assistance to ensure that the best advice and service is delivered to the customer.

ATTA (Advancing Tourism to Africa)

Tropical Sky is a fully participating member of ATTA, the voice of African tourism. It’s run by an executive based in London, supported by a board of advisors from across the African tourism industry. ATTA is not a regulatory authority and has no legal sanction over the operational practices of its members. However, it does encourage and promote best practice amongst members through regular forums, seminars and exhibitions. ATTA members must demonstrate an ongoing commitment to co-operate in order to promote African tourism and achieve the highest possible standards for their customers.
