Kenya Classic 4x4 Safari

Full Board 6 nights from £2,639 per person Including Flights

Overview

This exciting six-night road safari takes in both the Masai Mara and Amboseli, the two most iconic game viewing areas in Kenya. This safari is carefully designed to allow the maximum quality game viewing time possible within the economies of a driving rather than a flying safari. Starting and finishing in Nairobi, this safari operates every week, making it an easy itinerary to combine with a beach stay along the Mombasa coast or Zanzibar.

The safari starts on a Sunday, and you’ll stay at three game locations: Masai Mara Game Reserve, Lake Nakuru National Park and Amboseli National Park. The 4x4 purpose-built safari vehicle takes up to seven people on each journey, so you’re guaranteed excellent views, and all the safari lodges have pools for relaxing in between your busy safari schedule.

Important Luggage Restriction: Soft Sided Bags only, with max weight of 15kg. Larger bags for your onward journey to a beach location can be stored in Nairobi for a small fee.

We recommend you consider the upgraded version of this tour which utilises Serena Hotels in all areas other than the Masai Mara which remains the same. Prices for this upgrade are from £400pp

Day 1

No meals included.

Overnight: Eka Hotel, Nairobi, Bed & Breakfast

Day 2

After an early breakfast, set off on your safari in your purpose build 4x4 vehicle with your driver guide who will be with you for the entire trip. The 250 km drive is around 4.5 hours. As you move away from Nairobi the landscape increasingly becomes more impressive, building the excitement of heading towards Kenya’s leading game area.

You will arrive at your lodge located in the heart of the Masai Mara in time for lunch.  No doubt you will have stopped a few times between the reserve entrance and the lodge to see your first game.  Later that afternoon, experience your first full game drive in the reserve until sunset, returning for your evening meal at the lodge.

All meals included.

Overnight: Keekorok Lodge, Masai Mara, Full Board

Day 3

Enjoy a full breakfast before setting off very early for your morning game drive. You will be back for lunch and have time for a few hours relaxation at the lodge before setting off for your evening game drive.  Your driver will make sure you set off in search of any species you have not have managed to spot yet.  The Mara is so full of wildlife there is a very good chance you will get to see all the animals you are hoping to.

All meals included.

Overnight: Keekorok Lodge, Masai Mara, Full Board

Day 4

After an early breakfast, it is time to move on to your next location, Lake Nakuru. You will have around 200km to travel taking around 3.5 hours – plus stops to see wildlife on route of course.

Arrive in time for lunch and a few hours relaxation before heading out for your afternoon game drive.  The heart of the park houses an impressive lake which has an abundance of birdlife.  The openness of the lake also helps you to spot many mammals at the water’s edge. This fully fenced park provides a sanctuary for both Black and White Rhino maximising your chance of seeing these incredible animals on your safari. At sunset, head back to the lodge for your evening meal.

All meals included.

Overnight: Lake Nakuru Lodge, Full Board

Day 5

An early start again, setting off for Amboseli.  This is the longest drive of your safari being around 400km which takes around 7.5 hours of driving.  You will have a stop on route at Lake Naivasha for a tranquil boat ride, ideal for spotting many bird species.  Have a picnic lunch on route around the Nairobi areas before continuing to Amboseli.

Arrive in Amboseli late afternoon and enjoy the stunning views of Kilimanjaro as you enter the park and see your first glimpses of the wildlife residing here.  Famed for its wetlands and elephants, this area will give you yet another impressive eco system to experience.
