Day 1

Arrival in Windhoek

On arrival in Windhoek you'll be met and transferred to your hotel. You'll have some time to relax before your car is delivered and our representative's briefing on your itinerary. You then have the day at leisure to explore Windhoek, Namibia's capital with its unique architectural sights, historical buildings and plethora of shops.

Day 2

Windhoek to Sossusvlei

This morning, you’ll be transferrd to Windhoek Eros Airport where you will board your flight to Sossusvlei. A large ephemeral pan set amid sweeping red sand dunes that tower up to 325 metres above the valley floor, Sossusveli is located in the southern part of the Namib Desert, within the Namib-Naukluft National Park. One of the major attractions of Namibia, Sossusveli offers a wonderful range of accommodation and activities, which you’ll enjoy over the next couple of days.

Day 3

Sossusvlei

The best way to experience this breath-taking region is to climb a dune, which is a particularly popular activity in Sossusveli. This area is actually home to some of the highest dunes in the world, and spoils photographers with wonderful photo opportunities at sunrise and sunset, and the reflections of the surrounding dunes from the lake are utterly beautiful – this area is actually one of the planet’s most photographed spots. When the pan fills, it can hold water for as long as a year.

Day 4

Sossusvlei

Spend another day exploring the numerous attractions around Soussusveli, soaking up magnificent sights of the Sesriem Canyon, Dune 45, Hiddenvlei, Big Daddy and Deadvlei; all of the attractions are easily accessible. At the end of the 65km 2WD road from Sesriem, you’ll find the 2WD car park – only 4 x 4 vehicles can drive the last 4km into the Soussusvlei Plain itself; you can choose to walk, or catch the shuttle to cover the remaining distance. Despite the region’s harsh desert conditions, you’ll be likely to come across some of the unique plants and animals which have adapted to survive.

Day 5

Sossusvlei to Damaraland

Today, you will fly from Sossusvlei to Damaraland, journeying over the Namib-Naukluft National Park and the Dorob National Park along the way. Damaraland is easily one of Namibia’s most scenic areas, adorned by dramatic landscapes and wonderful wildlife-watching areas; it’s home to the critically-endangered black rhinos, desert-adapted lions and elephants, as well as the full range of Namibia’s famous native species such as zebra, giraffe, spotted hyena and gemsbok.

Day 6

Damaraland

Hidden within the rocky terrain, you’ll find Twyfelfontein, which contains some of Southern Africa’s greatest pre-historic rock art and engravings. Damaraland also features a ‘Petrified Forest’, which is a deposit of large tree trunks that have “turned to stone” through a process of diagenesis – there are at least two large tree trunks here, each of which are 45 metres long; This spectacular site is located 42km west of Khorixas town.

Day 7

Damaraland

You may choose to enjoy some of the wonderful nature activities on offer during your time in Damaraland, including a great selection of guided nature walks, game drives, rock art excursions and cultural activities in nearby local communities.

Day 8

Damaraland to Serra Cafema

You’ll have the choice of staying in Serra Cafema, or along the Skeleton Coast for the next night.

Serra Cafema Wilderness Camp is one of the remote camps in Southern Africa, offering a chance for guests to truly disconnect from the outside world. Spectacular nature walks, interaction with the semi-nomadic Himba community, low-impact quad biking excursions and boating (water levels permitting) to complete the experience.

The Skeleton Coast is a truly unique region adorned by rocky and sandy coastal shallows, rusting shipwrecks and soaring dunes. It’s a protected area that stretches from Sandwich Harbour, Swakopmund and the Kunene River, taking in around 20,000sqkm of dunes and gravel plains. This is a starkly beautiful place to stay, with a serene ambience, phenomenal views and lots of wildlife-viewing activities / excursions to the bay and river to enjoy.

Day 9

Serra Cafema

You’ll have a day at leisure today to enjoy the wonderful scenery and great selection of activities within your chosen accommodation / destination.

Day 11

Serra Cafema to Hoanib

Situated within one of Africa’s most remote corners, Hoanib is framed by the harsh desert landscapes of Kaokoland, which meet with the Skeleton Coast’s rugged mountains and deep canyons of the Hoanib River; this creates a unique home for some of the continent’s most unique wildlife, inhabiting 75% of Namibia’s endemic species. You can explore this incredible region by foot, from the comfort of a safari vehicle, or even by camel, and you’ll be sure to experience phenomenal scenery, wildlife and photo opportunities each time.

Day 12

Hoanib

You could spend your time today exploring the nearby Skeleton Coast National Park, or make the most of Hoanib’s spectacular desert wilderness with sundowner cocktails around the campfire, exhilarating game drives and guided nature walks. Depending on your chosen accommodation, you may even spot wildlife nearby as you cool off in the swimming pool.

Day 13

Hoanib

This is your last full day in Hoanib, so we recommend heading out on a nature excursion to track endangered rhinos, desert-adapted giraffes and elephants, whilst also looking out for hyenas, zebra, lions and other native wildlife in north-west Namibia.
