2017 Year of Sports in Barbados

To celebrate this all important part of life on the island, 2017 has been dedicated as Barbados’ ‘Year of Sport’, with many events and activities taking place throughout the year. A number of familiar faces are getting involved, such as local Barbadian Sir Garfield Sobers – who is hosting golf and cricket tournaments – as well as hotels and resorts across the island which are offering a choice of sporty facilities and packages.   • Barbados Polo Season: Jan – May

The first major sporting event on the Barbados calendar for 2017 is the beginning of the polo season.   • Barbados Cycling Festival: 5th – 10th September

Barbados’ inaugural cycling festival offers keen road and mountain bike cyclists an opportunity to discover the island from an unparalleled perspective, visiting the various parishes along beautiful and scenic trails. After four days of guided trips, test yourself on one of two round-island courses - the 95km ‘gold course’, which follows the perimeter of the whole island or the ‘silver course’, which is just 63km.
