Overview

This 15-day tour takes you from the amazing city of Delhi through to many of India’s most famous sites. It’s a fantastic introduction to some of the most spectacular monuments in the world, and a great look into the history of the country. You’ll visit the Pink City of Jaipur and explore stunning Indian countryside. Then it’s on to see the iconic Taj Mahal as well as the Red Fort in Agra followed by a stop at the hallowed River Ganges. Details

Day 1

Delhi

Arrive in Delhi, receive a transfer from the airport and have a welcome meeting to meet the group you’ll be travelling with.

Day 2

Delhi

In the morning you’ll take a walk around the city streets with a young adult who has been rehabilitated. Later on in the day you take a tour of Old Delhi with the chance to shop in spice markets and also go to Connaught Place and Jama Masjid.

Day 3-4

Jaipur

On the third day you’ll reach Jaipur and wander the streets of the ‘Pink City’. You’ll visit the stunning Palace of the Winds, one of India’s most impressive sights and get the chance to see a Bollywood movie. On the fourth day you will get the chance to see the impressive Amber Fort and use the afternoon to visit a ‘Palace of the winds’ or take a spectacular balloon ride at dawn to see the beautiful sunrise over the city.

Day 5

Tordi Sagar village

On day 5 you’ll see something completely different. Journeying into the countryside you’ll get to see a rural Indian village with the opportunity to learn about the local lifestyle and take the option to relax by the fire, taking in the starry night sky.

Day 6-7

Abhaneri/Agra

You’ll journey to Agra but stop off on the way at Abhaneri to see the stepwells. Then you’ll continue on to Agra to see the Taj Mahal, the Red Fort and Baby Taj. You’ll have plenty of time here to explore at your leisure and even partake in a sunrise hike to an old fort or go to the UNESCO red sandstone fort that was once the empire of India’s Mughal.

Day 8-9

Alipura

On day 8 you'll head south along typically rough Indian roads by both train and private vehicle to Alipura, where you'll stay in this friendly village and interact with the locals on your wander around the town. On day 9 you'll take a day trip to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Khajuraho to discover the Khajuraho Group of Monuments, India's largest group of medieval temples. Afterwards, you'll have the option to visit a nearby waterfall (seasonal), or watch an evening dance performance.

Day 10

Alipura/Orchha

Today you will visit the quiet and quaint rural town of Orchha. Along the way, you'll stop off at a unique paper making plant set up to assist tribal women in the area, and once in Orchha you'll enjoy an orientation tour of the town. In the evening you'll have the opportunity to attend a puja ceremony at the Ram Raja Temple.

Day 11

Orchha/Varanasi

Start the day with a visit to the Orchha Palace complex, before enjoying an afternoon of free time where you can opt to take a cooking class to get a taste for Indian food. In the evening you'll board an overnight train to Varanasi.

Day 12-13

Varanasi

Sitting on the bank of the famous River Ganges, you’ll spend your time in Varanasi getting to know a little more about India’s spiritual side in the oldest city in the world. Millions of Hindus visit here for pilgrimage, to worship, mourn or die each year. Watch the sunrise from a boat cruise and witness locals participating in bathing and burning rituals at the river.

Day 14

Varanasi/Delhi

Enjoy some free time in Varanasi before you make your return to Delhi by plane.

Day 15

Delhi

Depart any time. (Transfer is not included)
