Day 1

On arrival to the airport, you’ll be met by a representative of Jetwing Travels where you’ll then be transferred directly to your hotel in Dambulla/Sigiriya. You’ll have the afternoon to spend at your leisure. (4 hour transfer).

You may prefer to spend your first night in the beach village of Negombo a short 15 min drive from the airport.

Day 2

After your breakfast, you’ll have the chance to visit the Sigiriya Rock Fortress. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is an amazing sight to behold and is known as Lion Rock, because of the lion that used to guard the entrance to the Palace. From here, you’ll proceed to Polonnaruwa where you can enjoy some sightseeing opportunities.

Day 3

Travel to Kandy (2-3 hours)

After breakfast, transfer to Kandy, visiting the Dambulla Cave Temple en-route. This is another of Sri Lanka’s World Heritage Site – a vast cave temple complex, adorned with paintings and statues. In the evening, witness a cultural show featuring a variety of classic Sri Lankan dances.

Day 4

After breakfast at the hotel, you’ll have the chance to visit and explore the city of Kandy. This will include an Upper Lake Drive, Market Square, the Arts and Crafts Centre, Gadaladeniya, Lankathilake, Embekke and the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic. The latter of these has survived since the 4th Century AD, when the Buddha’s tooth was brought to Sri Lanka from sacrilegious hands where it has since grown in repute and holiness. The Royal Botanical Gardens are also well worth visiting – an array of tropical flora, spanning more than 5000 species. Later, transfer back to the hotel.

Day 5

Travel Kandy-Nuwara Eliya (approx 4-5 hours)

After breakfast, head to Nuwara-Eliya where you can enjoy a half-day city tour. En-route there will be a visit to a tea factory and Ramboda Falls. Nuwara-Eliya is often referred to as  the ‘Little England’ of Sri Lanka and is set against a stunning backdrop of mountains, valleys and waterfalls, dotted with tea plantations along the way.

Day 6

Travel Nurawa Eliya to Yala (approx 4 hours)

After breakfast, it is time to transfer to the hotel in Yala. Once you’ve checked in at the hotel, you’ll have the afternoon to spend at your leisure. In the evening there is a 4x4 safari in the Yala National Park. This amazing destination spans over 126,000 hectares and is famous for vast herds of elephants, leopards, crocodiles and buffalo. Later there is a transfer to the hotel.

Day 7

After an early breakfast at the hotel, you can enjoy a morning safari in the Yala National Park. Later there will be a transfer back to the hotel. The evening is yours to spend at your leisure.

Day 8

After breakfast, there will be a transfer to the airport or desired beach resort. (approx 3-4 hours)

Sri Lanka is a largely Buddhist country and you will often find restrictions on alcohol in place. On Full Moon Poya days and public holidays the government prohibits the serving of alcohol, but guests are able to enjoy pre-purchased drinks or those from the hotel minibar.
