Marketing & Commercial

General Assistant - One Year Undergraduate University Placement

Salary: £16,000

Location: East Grinstead

Closing Date: 30th November 2019

Start Date: July 2020 for one year

Reporting to the Marketing Manager, your time will be split between the marketing and commercial teams giving you excellent insight into the workings of a tour operator in a fastpaced long haul travel environment. This will be a hugely varied role where you will see how the work requirements of a tour operator change through the various booking seasons and have an unrivaled opportunity to be involved in the creation and support of marketing campaigns as well as the set up and maintenance of each holiday component within our booking system, supporting our product and sales teams in driving business and controlling costs an inventory.

  • Assist with the collation of marketing activity - online & offline including some content creation (written and video based subject to skill set)
  • Supporting team with messaging and use of social media in marketing campaigns
  • Support the sales team with pricing or product queries
  • Assist with creation of campaign reports, monitoring ROI & other success measures
  • Assist with collation and sharing of customer feedback and campaign data
  • Co-ordination and fulfilment of PR requests
  • Assist with production of Direct Mail campaigns


  • Support loading and maintaining hotel stock & inventory and securing confirmations
  • Support the sales team with pricing or product queries & assist with the maintenance and monitoring of holiday prices including some competitor analysis
  • Administrative support for Contracts Managers as needed to ensure all contractual agreement are fully signed and in place by agreed deadlines
  • Monitor and support delivery and connectivity of XML links into the reservation system
  • Support the commercial team in securing confirmation for accommodation and ground

Essential Skills:

  • Excellent communication skills - creative writing skills advantageous
  • Numerate with good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent understanding of English language both oral and written
  • Product knowledge of Long Haul destinations and experience of tour operations advantageous
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal skills and an outgoing, approachable personality
  • Ability to work in a busy and pressured environment and experience in achieving and exceeding set targets
  • Hardworking and able to learn quickly new procedures and business disciplines
  • Ability to manage busy workload and prioritise effectively
  • Flexible approach to team work as well as self-starter able to work on own
  • Note the role includes occasional evening and weekend work on a roster basis with time off in lieu, and you may be required to support other areas of the business at times
