Costa Rica Escapade

Day 1

San José

Upon arriving in San Jose, you will be transferred to your hotel (transfer included). If you arrive early, you may have the opportunity to explore the lively city or choose to unwind with a relaxing evening at a local restaurant to adjust to your new surroundings.

Day 2-3

Tortuguero

Your adventure begins with an early morning departure to collect a boat for a cruise through the canals, offering the perfect opportunity to observe and capture the wildlife in this tropical paradise. Tortuguero's pristine beaches, known for its turtle nesting grounds, await you as you pass through the rainforest. On your second day, you will embark on a guided tour of the Tortuguero Canals' and National Park. There are plenty of opportunities to spot an array of exotic wildlife, including toucans, parrots, iguanas, monkeys and much more.

NB: the entrance fee of USD10 per person into the national park is not included.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner included for both days.

Day 4-6

La Fortuna / Arenal

An afternoon drive to your hotel near the Arenal Volcano, taking around 3.5 hours, where you will stay for three nights. Lake Arenal at the base of the volcano, is where you will be able to enjoy windsurfing, kayaking and other watersports. This area is a birders paradise with over 600 species, and you can also enjoy hiking the nature trails, or for the more daring you can climb a steep ladder to participate in a canopy tour. Other numerous activities include horseback riding, mountain biking and river rafting.

Your trip includes a tour of The Volcano Park, by heading to the El Silencio Private Reserve, to get as close to the base of the Arenal volcano as possible by vehicle. You can also enjoy the excellent views of the Green Lagoon and Lake Arenal.

For a change of scenery, on return, you will  enter the regenerating forest and onto the primary rainforest located along the outskirts of the Arenal Volcano. With a little luck, this 1.5 km (1 mi) trail will provide you with the opportunity to see a wide variety of plants and animals that inhabit the rainforest, like toucans, turkeys, orioles, peccaries, snakes, and monkeys.

Day 7

Head back to San Jose for your flight home or onward to your next destination. Alternatively extend your stay on the beach.
