Overview

For a truly romantic wedding day, Diamonds Mapenzi Beach offers a sublime setting of manicured gardens, tropical bougainvillea and pristine, palm-lined beaches, with views over the glistening Indian Ocean. Nestled upon a stunning white sand Zanzibar beach, the resort has relaxed and friendly atmosphere, welcoming you to experience laid-back luxury.

Set on the breath-taking beach, your wedding set up will feature a beautifully decorated isle with local flowers, coconut & palm leaves, drapes and lanterns, which leads to a beautiful wedding altar with an arch canopy. For an authentic African touch, the Premier Wedding option invites a Masaai Group to perform during the ceremony. As you embark on a new chapter in your lives, you’ll celebrate with sparkling wine and wedding cake, before delighting in an intimate evening meal for two at the Suli Suli Restaurant. Our Premier option also treats you to personalised wedding gifts and a bottle of champagne.

As your honeymoon begins, take a stroll through the luscious gardens to the emerald waters of the Indian Ocean, stretch out on a sun bed, bathe in the blue pool or challenge yourself in one of the many activities or water sports offered by the Resort. Minimum residency period prior to marriage: 4 days

Minimum age: 21 years old

Available: Monday - Friday

Documents Required:

  • Valid original 10-year UK passport
  • Birth Certificate
  • A letter stating your full names, addresses & occupations and a letter with the same information for your parents. This information can be hand written/typed then signed by you; we then need the original copy and one photocopy of each
  • * An affidavit from you both confirming you are single and free to marry - An affidavit is a document which is dictated to and “sworn” by you before a ‘Notary Public’ to contain true details which are stated by you, for example, to confirm that you have not been married before and are free to do so whilst in Zanzibar. This document should be in the ‘1 St Person’ style (e.g.: I John Smith) and should have a clear authentic Notary Public Stamp
  • Two passport size photographs for both bride and groom
  • Application letter supplied where necessary by Tropical Sky

* Please note: A certified copy is a photocopy of the relevant document which has been stamped and signed (certified) by an authorized Notary Public as being a true copy of the original. The signature should be made in red or blue ink so that cannot be mistaken for a photocopy. All affidavits for Zanzibar weddings MUST be certified by a Solicitor or a Notary Public with their stamp. The Notary Public stamp (ideally blue or red ink) must clearly show the name of the Notary & that they are Notary Publics - e.g. Harrison/Bennett & Webb Notary Public, 29 Rye brook, Farnborough) accompanied by a signature. Without this, the authorities in Zanzibar will not allow the Wedding to proceed.

If Required

  • If you have been divorced: Decree Absolute is required.
  • If you have been widowed: The former marriage certificate and original death certificate
  • If you have changed your name: Deed Poll certificate will be required.
  • If you have been divorced and have reverted to using your maiden name then this counts as a name change and proof will be required.
  • If you have been adopted: Adoption papers need to be produced

Before you travel:

Guests marrying at hotels in Zanzibar will need to send photocopies of the documents listed to us at least 12 weeks before the date of travel.

In Resort:

Civil ceremonies must be held in the morning and on weekdays only.  Civil Wedding will take place on the beach with the Regional Commissioner coming to the hotel to perform the ceremony; however, in the event that this is not possible it will be necessary to go to the Regional Commissioners Office. Upon returning to the hotel, there will be a symbolic ceremony on the beach with a decorated canopy. In this event, the couple will have to exchange their own symbolic vows. All out door and beach activities are dependent on tides and weather.

ALL ORIGINAL DOCUMENTS MUST BE TAKEN WITH YOU WHEN YOU TRAVEL

Tropical Sky Weddings and the information given above only apply to couples:

  • Born in the UK & have a valid UK passport (with some months validity on return home)

If couples do not fulfil these requirements you must advise us.  Couples should be referred to the embassy of the country of origin and the country where they wish to marry as they may require extra documentation to satisfy their own embassy requirements – Tropical Sky cannot advise on this and couples must investigate this on their own.

As Tropical Sky weddings have no jurisdiction over hotels/resorts/venues/legal requirements and their charges, we cannot be responsible for any increases or changes to these wedding arrangements.  We will, however, endeavour to advise you of changes as soon as we are made aware of them.
