This Tanjung Aru resort is also home to CHI, The Spa at Shangri-La, a luxurious private spa experience based on traditional Asian healing philosophies. The spa comprises 5 individual Island Villas, 3 Couples’ Villas and an open Yoga Pavilion, all located on Pulau Bayu, the resort’s private island.

Rooms:
Shangri-La’s Tanjung Aru Resort and Spa comprises 492 luxurious rooms and suites in two wings, the Kinabalu Wing and the Tanjung Wing. All rooms at this hotel in Kota Kinabalu have been recently renovated to provide contemporary luxury inspired by the colours and textures of traditional Borneo.

Kinabalu Seaview rooms and suites offer memorable views of both the ocean and Mount Kinabalu while rooms in the Tanjung Wing face the South China Sea.

Kinabalu Club:
Located in the Kinabalu Wing, Kinabalu Club rooms offer an enhanced level of service, comfort, and convenience for busy travellers, including complimentary breakfasts, access to the exclusive Lounge, and a personal concierge.

Suites:

Nature Reserve (Rasa Ria):
Take the shuttle to the hotel’s sister resort, Rasa Ria, where you’ll find a unique 64-acre Nature Reserve featuring Sabah’s icon, the Orang Utan. The Nature Reserve is aimed primarily at nature conservation and Orang Utan rehabilitation. The Rehabilitation Programme for Orang Utans which is carried out at the Nature Reserve is the only one of its kind on the west coast of the state of Sabah, with Sepilok Rehabilitation Centre in Sandakan on the East Coast of the state being the main Orang Utan rehabilitation centre in the country.

The Reserve is also home to a wide spectrum of Sabah wildlife, such as two species of deer, long-tailed macaques, pheasants, civets, bear cat, masked musang, monitor lizard, water hens, porcupines, slow lorises, pangolins, pitcher plants, fruit bats and 63 species of birds.

Cool Zone:
Complimentary to the children of in-house guests, Cool Zone is one of the largest child care and play facilities in Malaysia.

Cool Zone is divided into five main areas:
- The toddler section, complete with padded walls and soft toys for the safety and comfort of younger guests.
- The area for children to register to become a member of the Cool Zone.
- The creativity area for children to develop painting, crafting and other skills.
- The computer and TV room, which offers free computer usage, Internet access and PlayStations.
- The coffee area, for parents to relax while their children are enjoying themselves.
 

Water Play Area & Pool:
The first and only one of its kind in Borneo, the water play area comprises of a dedicated section for toddlers, teenagers and an interactive area for all ages.

Enjoy theme park quality water slides for adults and children measuring a total length of 100 metres. There will also be water battle stations with water balloon launchers, a 2,000-square-metre swimming pool with tapered shoreline for children and a Jacuzzi and infinity pool section for adults.

Beaches:
The resort sits alongside an inviting stretch of sparkling South China Sea beaches, including Tanjung Aru Beach and Sunset Beach.

Shangri-La’s Tanjung Aru Resort and Spa offers an enticing array of Kota Kinabalu restaurants serving international and Asian gourmet specialties. Refurbishment

Shangri-La’s Tanjung Aru Resort & Spa is transforming all 251 Tanjung Wing guestrooms and the all-day dining restaurant, Café TATU from 10 Oct 2016 to 31 Jan 2017 and from 1 Feb 2017 to 30 Jun 2017.

All transformation work will be hidden and Kinabalu Wing guest rooms will not be impacted throughout the transformation.
The work will begin at 9AM to 6PM daily however the noise will be restricted and kept within.

Café TATU will be transformed and expected to be done pn 31 Jan 2017. The all-day dining facilities the Café offers will be moved to Tanjung Room to ensure guests do not experience any service disruption. The air-conditioned Tanjung Room, located on the second floor, offers magnificent view of the South China Sea with its floor-to-ceiling glass walls.
