Overview

Discover beauty and history on this simply stunning and unique river cruise providing the best experience of Venice, it’s lagoon and islands, before cruising along the glorious River Po, and visiting the beautiful cities of Padua, Bologna and Ferrara.

Your cruise will be on board the Super Ship La Venezia, drawing influences from Murano glass and  Venetian aesthetics of the early 20th century, creating an elegant and luxurious onboard experience. With a crew of 42 and maximum number of guests totalling 126, this is boutique river cruising at its best.

Onboard you will luxuriate in your lavishly appointed riverview stateroom or suites, which feature handcrafted beds and high thread-count 100% Egyptian cotton sheets with European duvets, plus a menu of pillow options. Dine in a choice of restaurants, where award-winning chefs using locally sourced ingredients will create Italian and European inspired meals. All meals and drinks are included during this 7-night cruise, including a special Captains Reception, plus Welcome and Farewell Dinners. Tuck into wood-fired pizza at Cielo's on the sundeck or head to Hari's Bar for traditional paninis and cocktails. Enjoy typical Venetian fare in the nostalgic and cosy Ristorante Rialto most nights and book a private evening at La Cantinetta for an intimate, wine paired, cooking class dinner.

This cruise runs Sunday to Sunday from April through to October (Uniworld).

Day 1

Fly to Venice and embarkation

Arrive at Venice Marco Polo International Airport, where you will be transferred to the ship. Unpack, relax and enjoy your first evening on the Venetian Lagoon on board the Super Ship La Venezia.

Day 2

Venice

After a delicious breakfast you will then stroll to the spectacular Doge’s Palace, arriving before the crowds so you’ll be able to marvel at this gorgeous Palazzo in peace and quiet. Then take time to wander through the Venetian neighbourhoods to soak up daily life in an authentic Venetian residential quarter. Later this evening will be a highlight - a private once-in-a-lifetime experience at an after-hours lighting ceremony inside St. Mark’s Basilica without the crowds.

Day 3

Venice and choice of Chioggia or Padua

Choose how you spend the day from a variety of super excursions* You could spend the day in medieval Padua, less than an hour from Venice but a world away with its medieval marketplaces and one of Europe’s oldest universities. Padua was founded in 1183 BC which makes it 430 years older than Rome!
Or take a Venice walking tour and enjoy sightseeing Chioggia – a seaside town south of Venice. You can take a ride on a traditional bragozzo (a wooden sailing boat) or take a biking tour through this authentic fishing town.

A special Captain’s Welcome Reception and Dinner will be prepared for you this evening.

* Please note: In order to comply with Italian Maritime Authorities who require that only crew may be on the ship during the Adriatic Sea passage, all guests must disembark the ship and partake in one of the featured excursions.

Day 4

Polesella and choice of Bologna or Ferrara

Today you can explore Italy’s culinary capital Bologna on a full-day tour packed with an exclusive pasta-making workshop and lunch. Alternatively you can choose to visit the beautiful university town of Ferrara on a half-day tour walking tour to discover its elegant Renaissance buildings.

Day 5

Porto Viro – Chioggia - Burano

Today, you’ll admire the greatest sites of the charming coastal town of Chioggia, including a stop at the lively local market. Your ship is exclusively allowed to dock overnight on the island of Burano - famous for its lace and coloured house- where you’ll enjoy a lovely evening stroll.*

Day 6

The islands of Burano, Torcello, Mazzorbo - Venice

Spend the day exploring the northern lagoon of Venice and three of its captivating islands. Explore a basilica with an art historian in Torcello before heading to the peaceful, agricultural island of Mazzorbo. End the tour with a stroll through Burano’s rainbow of colorful homes and visit a lace-making atelier.

Day 7

Venice

As your water taxi glides past narrow side canals and the Canal Grande, you’ll arrive in style at the Rialto Bridge and Fondaco dei Tedeschi. The iconic stone arch bridge sits at the narrowest point of the Canal Grande and holds numerous shops and restaurants. You have a choice of “Do as the Locals Do” Venice walking tour or Rialto walking tour with Casanova

A special Captain’s Farewell Reception and Dinner will be prepared for you this evening.
