Days 1 to 3 
Siem Reap

You'll be met on arrival at Siem Reap International Airport and transferred to your hotel. Spend your time here exploring the temples of the Angkor Archaeological Park – we'd recommend a full day with a private guide to visit the highlights, including Angkor Wat itself, the Bayon's serene stone faces, and the atmospheric tree-root ruins of Ta Prohm. Early risers shouldn't miss a sunrise tour of Angkor Wat, when the temple's towers are silhouetted against the morning sky. Back in town, Siem Reap's Pub Street and Old Market are worth an evening stroll, and a visit to Phare, the Cambodian Circus, makes for a brilliant night out.

Days 4 to 8
Koh Rong or Koh Krabey

Transfer to Siem Reap airport for your onward flight south to Sihanoukville, followed by a short speedboat transfer to your island of choice. 

Koh Rong
For a more relaxed island escape, Koh Rong is a wonderful choice, with long sandy beaches, turquoise waters and a laid-back atmosphere. Spend your five nights swimming and relaxing on the beach, or get out on the water with a snorkelling or boat trip. You can also explore some of the island's quieter beaches or enjoy a sunset cruise. Speedboats connect Sihanoukville with Koh Rong, with the crossing taking around an hour depending on your chosen resort and service.

Koh Krabey
For something more secluded, choose Koh Krabey, a small private island close to Sihanoukville. Here, the emphasis is firmly on relaxation, with beautiful surroundings, swimming, kayaking, paddleboarding, snorkelling and opportunities to explore nearby islands. Your resort will arrange the short speedboat crossing from its mainland jetty, making the journey to this peaceful island wonderfully simple.

Whichever island you choose, five nights gives you plenty of time to slow down after your sightseeing in Siem Reap and enjoy Cambodia's tropical coastline at your own pace.

Days 9 to 10
Phnom Penh

Transfer by speedboat back to the mainland, then transfer to the capital, Phnom Penh, just 2-2.5 hours away by road. Spend your time exploring the Royal Palace and the dazzling Silver Pagoda, before taking a more sobering look at Cambodia's recent past with visits to Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum and the Choeung Ek Killing Fields – both essential for understanding the country's history. Round things off with a sunset cruise along the Tonle Sap and Mekong rivers, and sample some of the city's excellent riverside restaurants.

Day 11
Depart Phnom Penh

Transfer to Phnom Penh International Airport for your flight home.
