Day 1

Shanghai

Arrive in the magnificent Shanghai, known as the ‘Paris of the East’. Enjoy the rest of the day at leisure to start exploring the city and immersing yourself in the local culture.

Day 2

Shanghai

History and the modern day collide in Shanghai, with streets lined with skyscrapers and temples. Visit the Shanghai Museum and the classical Chinese Yu Garden. Make a stop in the old town, learning about the silk production process.

Marvel at the incredible architecture of the Bund and Xintiandi precinct before exploring the Huangpu River from a panoramic cruise. Skyscrapers and glittering lights create a unique spectacle to witness.

Day 3

Zhujiajiao

Today you will visit Zhujiajiao Water Town and explore the town’s narrow alleyways and waterways, lined with ancient buildings. This fascinating city is built on a canal system that, in the past, was used to transport goods across China.

Day 4

Xian

Take a flight to Xian, China’s former ancient capital. In the evening, enjoy a regional speciality of Shui Jiao dumplings before enjoying a Tang Dynasty dancing show.

Day 5

Xian

This morning, visit the incredible Terracotta Army of China’s first emperor, Qin Shi Huang. These life-sized warriors and horses remain in their original formations where they were excavated. You will also visit a workshop in which smaller versions of the terracotta warriors are crafted.

Later, wander along Xian old town’s ancient city walls.

Day 6

Xian

Start the day with a visit to Little Wild Goose Pagoda before wandering through the Muslim Quarter, with streets lined with Islamic food stalls. Learn more about the city’s culture and historic role as the gateway to the Silk Road.

You will then board the bullet train to China’s capital, Beijing.

Day 7

Beijing

Make your way across Tiananmen Square to the incredible Forbidden City, where centuries of imperial power come to life. Next, visit the Temple of Heaven, known for its beauty and spiritual significance. You may choose to watch or participate in a dance class here.

Day 8

Beijing

Today, visit the iconic Great Wall of China. Take a cable car or chairlift to the summit before wandering along the wall’s historic stones. Explore at your own pace before descending with an exciting toboggan ride or by cable car. You will then visit a Jade Factory and learn more about this precious stone before wandering around the Summer Palace.

In the evening, enjoy a famous Beijing delicacy - Peking duck.

Day 9

Depart

Say goodbye to China and fly home on this day. If you would like to extend your stay, please speak to your travel expert.

If you are travelling within a Chinese Public Holiday, please be aware that celebrations last for a number of days and travel may be impacted. Tourist attractions remain open but can be crowded. Chinese New Year (late January - mid February) and Golden Week public holidays occur annually (late April - early May and late September - early October).

Travellers are limited to two items of luggage - a suitcase with a 20kg maximum weight and hand luggage with a 5kg maximum weight.
