Holidays in the Maldives

Eating, drinking and enjoying the nightlife in the Maldives

Eating

The resorts are entirely self-contained meaning, that unless you spend any time on Male, any food you eat will be available at the resort. The majority will have a broad selection of food on offer from pan Asian cuisine to European specialties. Maldivian food in itself is based mainly on Sri Lankan and south Indian food, but may not be readily available at the resorts.

Drinking

The Maldives is a strict Muslim nation and the local population does not drink alcohol – in fact it is forbidden to bring alcohol in. However, the resorts are all licenced to sell alcohol, and the restrictions on locals drinking do not apply to tourists.

Nightlife

There will be entertainments and nightlife at your chosen resort, but bear in mind that the Maldives is known more as a quiet, relaxation destination rather than a place to party. Of course some resorts cater more to this atmosphere so it’s worth taking a look at the specific resorts we offer to see which would be most suitable for you.
