Eating, drinking and enjoying the nightlife in Mauritius

Eating

Eating is a real pleasure in Mauritius as the country’s food draws influence from so many of the world’s favourite cuisines. Even if you’re staying at an all-inclusive, it’s worth venturing out into your nearest town at least once to try some local specialities.

All of the resorts that we offer in Mauritius have a fantastic range of foods available on the premises, so you’ll never have to go searching out food if you don’t want to. If you do get the opportunity to travel around the island, however, you’ll find a huge range of food on offer including delectable octopus curry, fragrant biryanis and French-influenced stews.

Drinking

There are many producers of cane rum in Mauritius with a very distinctive taste. Chamarel is one of the most distinctive and delicious options, while Green Island produce a large number of drinks. The local Phoenix beer is also very good and is usually available very cheaply.

Nightlife

Generally of course, Mauritius is seen more as a relaxing and quiet destination than a place to party; however, the resorts generally provide a good selection of evening entertainments. This means that most don’t feel the need to go out on the town if they want to party. But despite the tranquil reputation, there are a number of places, especially at Grand Baie, where Mauritius is developing a thriving nightlife. Banana Beach Club is famous for great cocktails and a high-octane Wednesday night.
