What do people say about the Shangri-La Barr Al Jissah in Oman, Middle East?

We stayed at the Al Waha at the end of November for a week, from the moment we arrived at the hotel we knew that this was going to be a fabulous holiday and it was. The hotel, staffand food are fantastic, we went on the Muscat city tour and the dolphin watching trip both were excellent, went on the shuttle coach to the gold souk one of the days, beautiful jewellery, yes we did haggle ,and bought a few items. We hope to return to this hotel again but this time we will stay for 2 weeks and hope to get out to see the desert, thank you to every one at the Shangri-la Barr Al Jissah Resort for making our holiday an experience of a life time.

We visited Al Waha in December 2007. Even though the hotel was full, the staff found time to treat all guests as individuals. Service was the best I’ve seen anywhere - includes Dubai, Abu Shabi, Ras al Khaimar in the Gulf. Only limited watersports, but safe for windsurfing - staff suppoertive of beginners.

Food excellent in all restaurants. Bail al Bahr was superb. (Book an outside table). Worth a visit to Muttrah Souk on hotel luxury coach. Haggle like mad!

Only one niggle - hotel says pool view rooms are 30+ sq. metres. True, but the bathroom is huge, so if there is more than 2 in the room, it becomes a squeeze. Next time, I’ll go for a family room.

We went to the Al Husn in Feb 07, and it was an experiance of a life time, the staff were fabulous, nothing was too much. The rooms were wonderful, all sea facing. The retaurants were great can highly recomend,The Tapas, The Italian, The Seafood, and last but not least The Al A Carte retaurant.
The only problem we had was the hotel was so good that we did not venture out to visit Muscat.
We do intend to revisit this hotel in the future. If you go you will be guaranteed a wonderful, restful holiday.
