Shangri-La’s Rasa Ria Resort comprises of 420 well-appointed guestrooms in the Garden Wing and the new Ocean Wing. Both wings at this Sabah hotel offer rooms which feature luxuriously furnished interiors and a host of amenities.
The Garden Wing offers 330 rooms and suites. All ground floor rooms have private lanais accessible through verdant gardens while all the upper floor rooms offer private balconies with views of the lush landscape and sea, and have a two-level layout with daybed, creating an ensuite feel while the Ocean Wing offers 90 square meters that comes complete with a private outdoor bathtub on each balcony that presents sweeping views of the sea. Guests staying in the Ocean Wing have the exclusive use of its own private swimming pool.
Malaysian culture resonates in each guest room with soft earth tones and intricately carved panels to make you feel at peace in the serene surroundings and luxurious ambience. The Borneo wilderness begins just outside the resort, and offers the curious explorer many fascinating sights and adventures. Most popular of all is a visit to the Nature Reserve, where you’ll meet the resorts famous Orang Utans, rescued animals who stay for a few years so they can return to the wild and thrive.
The Reserve is also home to a wide spectrum of Sabah wildlife such as two species of deer, long-tailed macaques, pheasants, civets, bear cat, masked musang, monitor lizard, water hens, porcupines, slow lorises, pangolins, pitcher plants, fruit bats and 63 species of birds.
Children’s Pool:
The children’s pool, open from 7am to 7pm, is located in the main pool area.
Kids Club:
Enjoy complimentary use of the Kids Club, which offers children from 4 to 12 years old engaging playtime in a supervised environment. Free entrance to Kids Club from 8am to 7pm. 7pm to 10pm is chargeable.

Orang Utans:
Meeting an actual Orang Utan in a near-wild setting is a special experience all children enjoy. Older children may appreciate the opportunity to learn about and even help support the reserve’s animal care efforts. The resort’s nature reserve also offers short guided walks suitable for families.
Ranger:
An activity that is sure to appeal to children of all ages, this a half-day programme where children are given the opportunity to get hands-on in assisting the rangers with their daily tasks.
Pantai Dalit Beach:
A secluded stretch of beach thirty minutes north of Kota Kinabalu, Pantai Dalit offers private expanses of soft white sand ideal for families or vacationing couples. The Sampan Bar serves refreshing drinks and snacks during the day.
Pool:
The resort swimming pool is a favourite choice for a cool dip amid our luxurinat gardens. You may enjoy refreshments and drinks at the adjacent Tepi Laut.
The pool is open from 7am to 7pm. A children’s pool is located next to the Garden Wing Pool.
Restaurants:
Shangri-La’s Rasa Ria Resort offers diners a range of enticing restaurants in Kota Kinabalu ranging from popular Malaysian and Asian fare to traditional cooking from Northern India and Goa, as well as contemporary western cuisine that reflects the open spirit of the beautiful beachfront setting.
Lounges & Bars:
At the beach, enjoy the refreshing beverages and light snacks at the beachside Sampan Bar. In the evening, the Lobby Lounge is a popular spot for a drink before or after dinner while being entertained by our resident musicians.
