This itinerary is based on 3 nights at Welgelegen House, 1 night at Montagu Vines Guesthouse, 1 night La Plume Guest House, 2 nights at Hog Hollow Country Lodge and 1 night at Hacklewood Hill Country House on a Bed and Breakfast basis. Followed by 3 nights at Thornybush Game Reserve on a Full Board basis with Game Drives.
An amazing self-drive tour that really captures the essence of the Garden Route. Beginning in Cape Town, you’ll journey through the charming ‘Route 62’ on your way to Oudtshoorn. From there you’ll experience the amazing wineries in South Africa, on to Knysna and finishing your trip with a trip to the Thornybush Private Game Reserve. (NF)

Arrive in Cape Town and collect your hire car, then settle at the foot of Table Mountain, just a short distance from Camps Bay’s white-sand beaches, elegant restaurants, and lively nightlife.

Day 2
Today you can spend some time exploring the beaches and sights of Camps Bay.

Day 3
Spend the day exploring city highlights such as Table Mountain, the V&A Waterfront, or the colourful Bo-Kaap

Day 4
Travel along the scenic Route 62 to the charming town of Montagu and settle into Montagu Vines Guesthouse. Enjoy wine tasting or a gentle walk through the surrounding countryside.

Day 5
After a morning spent in Montagu, you can drive down to Oudtshoorn for a range of activities, including a trip to the awe-inspiring Cango Caves and a trip to see the world’s biggest bird at an ostrich farm.

Day 6
Head towards the Garden Route and to Plettenberg Bay. Spend the afternoon unwinding by the pool or exploring the nearby forest trails.
Overnight: Hog Hollow Country Lodge, Bed & Breakfast basis
Day 7
Time to explore the Garden Route today. Choose from activities such as hiking in Tsitsikamma National Park, beach time in Plettenberg Bay, or visiting Knysna’s scenic waterfront. Return to Hog Hollow for a restful evening.

Day 8
After breakfast, depart from Plettenberg Bay and head towards Gqeberha. Gqeberha offers beautiful beaches, a lively coastal promenade, and cultural landmarks such as the Donkin Reserve and the South End Museum. You can also enjoy scenic walks like the Sacramento Trail or even take a day trip to nearby Addo Elephant National Park.

Day 9
Today you’ll drop your car off and fly from Port Elizabeth to the Kruger, via Johannesburg. On arrival at Hoedspruit airport you will be met and transported to Thornybush Game Reserve where you’ll experience some amazing game drives. Your stay will be in a luxury tent on a full board basis.
Overnight: Kapama River Lodge, Full Board basis with two daily safari activities and a bushwalk
Day 10
Spend another day taking in the sights and exploring the wildlife that roams here. This reserve is adjacent to the world famous Kruger National Park, where you will have ample opportunity to spot the majestic Big Five whilst trekking through the bush in your open topped safari vehicle.
Overnight: Kapama River Lodge, Full Board basis with two daily safari activities and a bushwalk
Day 11
Spend your last full day going on game drives and making the most of the views.

Day 12
Your final morning brings a last game drive before your transfer back to Hoedspruit airport. From here you will fly back to Johannesburg for your onward journey.
