With direct access to the seafront promenade in Funchal’s historic Old Town and picturesque views over the cruise port, the Porto Santa Maria is a stylish adult-only urban resort ideal for couples and groups looking explore the surrounding area or soak up the sun and relax by one of the pools. Take a stroll along the Rua de Santa Maria, one of the oldest streets on Madeira and enjoy what we think is one of the great attractions of the old town, the Painted Doors Project, turning the doors of over 200 houses into canvases for artists.
There’s no better way to unwind after a day walking the cobbled streets than a soak in the rooftop jacuzzi while you watch the sunset over the Atlantic Ocean before heading down to the Arsenal Restaurant which offers themed international cuisine buffets each day and a special Gourmet Flavours dinner each week.
The terrace of the lively Captain’s Bar with its varied live music is one of our favourite spots to sit watching the boats and spotting Sao Tiago Fort whilst enjoying one of the many cocktails that the bar offers on its extensive drink’s menu.
