Vietnam is a gourmet paradise well known for its fabulous, exotic cuisine that differs between the southern, central and northern regions of the country. Experience a Vietnam culinary tour that incorporates cultural highlights, cooking classes and dining in gourmet restaurants along the way. From lessons in urban Saigon to classes in a beautiful villa set in lush tropical surrounds, this Vietnam culinary tour will be a gastronomic delight for the senses.

Day 1: Ho Chi Minh City Arrival (G)
You will be greeted at the airport and transferred to your hotel.

Rest of the day at leisure, for own arrangements.

Day 2: Ho Chi Minh City - Hoa Tuc Cooking Class (B, L) (G)
The next morning experience a truly authentic cooking class at the Hoa Tuc Cooking Centre, which is housed in the old opium refinery. Go on a tour of the outdoor produce markets to shop for ingredients and learn all about the exotic fruits, vegetables and herbs on display. Return to the cooking centre where you will be shown the secrets to Vietnamese cooking. Afterwards sit down to enjoy the fruits of your labour.

Day 3: Mekong Delta (B, L) (G)
The mighty Mekong River has so many stories to tell. Explore the Mekong Delta - also best known as “Mien Tay” in Vietnamese. After a scenic drive to Vinh Long, take a boat through the floating market and lush green vegetation of the canals to an ancient house. If you wish, have a go at catching fish the traditional way or simply watch the locals demonstrate. Enjoy their ‘catch of the day’ for lunch. On the way back stop by a local brick-making factory before disembarking the boat and heading back to the City.

You will arrive back in HCMC in the late afternoon.

Day 4: Ho Chi Minh City – Hoi An (B, D) (G)
From Saigon fly to Danang on the Central Coast and drive to the quaint fishing village of Hoi An. Go on a walking tour of this beautiful town, be inspired by its fascinating architecture, dine in its many gourmet restaurants and get some shopping therapy at one of the many tailor shops.

Day 5: Hoi An Farmer and Fisherman (B, L) (G)
This exciting full day tour gives you an insight into the lives of the farming and fishing communities in this beautiful region of Vietnam. Begin your adventure by cycling out into the countryside through emerald green rice paddies. After a short ride you will arrive at the village of Tra Que. This charming little settlement, on the edge of Hoi An, is famous for its sweet scented green vegetables that spice up Hoi An’s famous delicacies such Cao Lau and Mi Quang. On arrival you will be introduced to the history of the village and the cultivation of the vegetables. Continue with a walk around the vegetable garden and join the farmers in preparing the land and planting some crops. Finish off your village experience with a fun cooking demonstration. Later, return to Hoi An and board the Eco Tour boat for a river cruise to meet and engage with local fisherman. You are sure to enjoy the hands on experience of river net fishing with the locals. Next, you have the opportunity to paddle a unique bamboo basket boat, known as a coracle, as you explore the area’s coconut palmed waterways.


Day 6: Hoi An Cooking Class - Transfer to Hue (B, L) (G)
This morning take a tour of the markets before cruising downriver to a villa set in lush tropical surroundings, where you will enjoy a fun cooking class. Relax with a glass of wine as you savour your wonderful creations. In the afternoon you will be transferred to Hue.

Day 7: Hue Cooking Class Tour (B, L, D) (G)
Regarded by many as the culinary capital of Vietnam, Hue takes its culinary cues from its royal heritage. In this half-day cooking class, you will follow a local chef to the central market, where you will receive guidance on choosing ingredients for your cooking lesson as well as a background of Hue Imperial Cuisine. During the cooking class you will learn how to make Hue fried spring rolls, rice cakes, banana flower salad and grilled beef in the local style. At the end of the class you will enjoy the dishes you have prepared.

In the afternoon, explore the Citadel and catch a boat down the Perfume River to visit ancient temples and pagodas. This evening you will have the opportunity to chat with a chef from Hue who will explain the history of Hue’s cuisine and traditions. This engaging experience is followed by a fabulous authentic Hue dinner fit for an emperor.

Day 8: Hue Free Day at leisure - overnight train to Hanoi (B) (G)

Day 9: Train Arrival Hanoi - Street Eat Tour (B, L, D) (G)
Upon arrival in Hanoi you will be met and transferred to your hotel.

In the afternoon enjoy a half day street food tour

The tour begins with an introduction to the local food scene over a hearty bowl of pho; noodle soup, the quintessential Hanoi street food. Then it is off to a bustling local market where your chef will demystify the local produce, and encourage you to taste some of its most exotic ingredients . A further 5 venues are included in the tour and all travel between venus is by taxi or on foot, the tour lasts for 5 hours and finishes with a typical Vietnamese ca phe, or che (Vietnamese tea) and local sweets. Your chef and guide will also share some of their favourite eating and shopping secrets in Ha Noi for you to explore further.

In the evening enjoy dinner at one of the oldest restaurants in Hanoi that specializes in the famous fish dish ‘Cha Ca’.

Day 10: Hanoi (B, L, D) (G)
Pick up from hotel and drive to Hoan Kiem Lake, the heart of Hanoi. It is great spot to start a healthy day with the sun rising over the water. Locals concentrate around this lake in the early morning by involving themselves in Tai chi, aerobics and some light sports or simply by a stroll around the lake. Our guide will lead the walk around the lake and you will join in Tai Chi with the locals.
You conclude your Hoan Kiem experience at a Café boasting marvelous views of the lake, enjoying the view a before preparing yourself for a truly cooking experience.

Vietnamese food is healthy, simple to cook and downright delicious. This half day cooking tour in Hanoi will provide you with a hands-on lesson on how to shop for, and to cook, authentic Vietnamese food.

Your Hanoi cooking tour will begin with a quick walk to the famous Chau Long market, where you will learn more about the various ingredients that go into a Vietnamese dish including including vegetables, fruits and Vietnamese herbs and spices. It’s then onto the Hanoi Cooking Centre for your hand’s on cooking lesson followed by a chance to try your new creation.

The Vietnamese cooking class is held in small groups (2 to 16 people) to enhance interactivity with the head chef. You will have one cooking station between 2 persons for your hands-on lesson.
At midday sit down and enjoy your own Vietnamese creations accompanied by local beer or wine plus receive detailed recipes cards to take home.

In the evening dine at a well known Hanoi restaurant, which acts as a hospitality training restaurant for underprivileged street kids. Offering a mix of Vietnamese and Western fusion dishes you will be truly impressed by the gourmet cuisine and enthusiastic service of the staff.

Day 11: Depart Hanoi (B) (G)
The day is at leisure until you are transferred to the airport for your onward flight.
