This 6 night tour takes in the cities of Hanoi and Saigon as well as a day trip to Halong. Staying in 4* and 5* including breakfast and internal flights.

DAY 1

Depart on an overnight flight from the UK to Hanoi.

DAY 2

Arrive in Hanoi, meet the guide and transfer to your hotel for check-in. Overnight at the Nikko hotel.

DAY 3

Today’s full day city tour of this charming capital Hanoi with ochre-colored colonial style buildings, tree-lined avenues and many lakes. Set out on a visit to the Temple of Literature to have an overview about Hanoi culture and history at the outset of the trip. Then visit to the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, an imposing monument made of generous amount of marble and granite. This is where the preserved body of “Uncle Ho” may be viewed, continue visiting the lotus-shaped One Pillar Pagoda in the form of a lotus, it emerges from the water and rests on a single stone pillar. It contains a statue of the Goddess of Mercy with its legendary “thousand arms and a thousand eyes”. Afternoon, visit to a very beautiful Museum of Ethnology to enhance your understanding of Vietnam’s diverse culture through its unique presentation of objects & dress from daily life . This evening attend a traditional water puppet, a uniquely northern Vietnamese art form especially designed for depicting scenes from rural life and many episodes of national history.

DAY 4

Drive 160 km to Halong City with a coffee break en route at the Sao Do handicraft centre. Arrive by noontime at the dock, we board our private junk to begin a 4-hour cruise through spectacular Halong Bay while enjoying a fresh seafood lunch served on board. Return to Hanoi for an overnight stay

DAY 5

After breakfast, free at leisure until transfer to airport for the flight to Saigon. Upon arrival, meet the guide and transfer to hotel for check-in and relax. After that, city tour of Saigon to visit its historic landmarks including the Old Saigon Post Office, Notre Dame Cathedral, former Presidential Palace and Cholon, the city’s bustling Chinatown. End the day with a stroll to Ben Thanh Market. Overnight at Duxton hotel

DAY 6

Enjoy a morning drive through typical southern Vietnamese countryside to Cu Chi district. Upon arrival in Cu Chi, we experience ourselves the underground village built by Cu Chi guerrilla fighters, the remains of a real bloody battle field which is simply a network of tunnels built during the long years of wars. On the way back, stop at a local family-run rice paper making village before heading back to Saigon. Balance of the day is free at leisure
Overnight at Duxton hotel

DAY 7

After breakfast, set out on an excursion to My Tho in the Mekong Delta. Enjoy a 2-hour scenic drive passing paddy fields and tributaries. On arrival, board our private motorized boat for a river cruise on the upper part of the Mekong River for a taste of agriculture life on the mighty Mekong River. Disembark the boat strolling around the colorful My Tho wholesale fruit market to enjoy the bustle local daily life. Continue your ride upstream stopping en route at a boat building family factory and end at Thoi Son 5 Island, walk through the lush orchards with tropical fruits. Opportunity to taste diverse types of Mekong Delta fruit while enjoying traditional music. Shuttle back to the pier and enjoy lunch with Mekong Delta specialties at Ngoc Gia Trang restaurant. Drive back to Saigon and transfer to your hotel. Overnight at Duxton hotel

After breakfast, free at leisure until transfer to airport for the departure flight home
