Upon arrival in Cuba you will be transferred to your Guesthouse for a pre-tour briefing at 7pm. This is your chance to get to know your local guide and the other travellers who will be joining you. The day will end with an optional group dinner.
Havana – Soroa – Vinales
The morning begins with a chilled walking tour of Old Havana, journeying past wonderful landmarks including Havana Cathedral, Plaza de Armas, and Central Park full of vintage cars. Afterwards you’ll transfer to Soroa, a verdant reserve nestled in a sweeping valley, where you’ll enjoy a light lunch and stroll around an orchid garden. After lunch, you’ll travel on to Vinales to marvel at the dramatic tobacco plains and sugarcane fields, with optional activities including cycling through the valleys, hiking through the tobacco grounds, or hiking to mountain caves.
The whole day will be spent in Vinales. Begin with a walking tour through the village and a salsa session, before enjoying an afternoon as you like. There are plenty of optional activities you could enjoy, including sunbathing on the golden sands of Cayo Jutias, exploring the Santa Tomas cave complex, or embarking on a Cueva del Indio cave walk and boat trip. The evening can be spend mingling with the locals, salsa dancing and drinking rum until dawn.
Vinales – Trinidad
Start the morning with a bus ride to the lively city of Trinidad, where you’ll have the entire day to explore at your leisure. There’s plenty of photo opportunities here, including charming cobbled streets, colonial buildings, bright houses adorned with locals relaxing and smoking cigars on their doorstep, and vintage Chevrolets.
Again, the day will be free for you to explore the city at your own pace. You won’t run out of things to see – we recommend searching for the Spanish-style churches, or the sweeping sugar plantations that spread across the Valle de los Ingenios. Playa Ancon offers a picturesque spot to soak up the sun, and the snorkelling here is amazing too. The mountains of Sierra del Escambray are a brilliant outdoor playground too, offering opportunities to hike, trek or even horse ride through the landscapes. We’d also recommend starting your evening marvelling at one of the folklore dance and music shows in one of the open-air venues.
Trinidad – Cienfuegos
In the morning, you’ll drive to Cienfuegos, a gorgeous seaside town. Here you’ll enjoy a guided tour of the magnificent Palacio del Valle – an enriching experience where you’ll learn about the area’s rich history and gothic architecture.
Cienfuegos – Santa Clara – Havana
Today you will journey back to Havana, stopping at Santa Clara on the way. Home to the Che Guevara mausoleum, you’ll explore this fascinating museum full of artefacts about the revolutionary leader and the legacy of Ernesto. In the evening, you’ll enjoy a group dinner and salsa dancing in Havana.
In the morning, you will say goodbye to your tour group and transfer to Varadero to settle into your hotel for the next four nights – Paradisus Princesa Del Mar. Nestled by a powdery white beach, this elegant adult-only, All-Inclusive hotel offers authentic Cuban décor with a touch of luxury.
There’s plenty on offer here, from fun water sports and a lively nightclub, to a stunning pool and laidback spa area – leaving you to spend your days being as active or as relaxed as you like. Varadero itself is well-worth exploring too - the sun-kissed beaches and friendly locals will truly make you feel refreshed and relaxed after a week full of activities.
