David and Ann went on our Mountain Country Self-drive tour in Canada. Here's what they had to say:

A year ago we suggested to our friend Jane, who lives in Canada, that we’d like to be with her on her 50th birthday. Making such a long trip over to Canada, we knew we wanted to add something extra on to our trip too, so decided to phone Canadian Sky and book a self-drive tour. Though we’ve been on escorted tours around the world before, this was our first self-drive, and we couldn’t wait to enjoy the freedom of the wide open road. We opted for the Mountain Country self-drive tour to see British Columbia and Alberta, and visit some of the amazing National Parks, like Banff and Jasper.

Though some of the drives were very long, we enjoyed the flexibility of each day and found the pace to be quite reasonable – we certainly had enough time to see the attractions and take it all in. We loved the peaceful atmosphere and magnificent scenery in Canada; it made the drives much more manageable and we were completely taken aback by the views from our windows.

Tofino was our favourite spot by far as we went on an exciting whale watching excursion there, which was a beautiful sight to behold and something we won’t be forgetting anytime soon. We had an amazing First Nations experience in Hazelton too, discovering the fascinating totem poles, tribal houses and museums in Ksan Native Village. We also did a bit of wildlife spotting in the Rockies which was an incredible experience – we very much enjoyed orca watching in Victoria, as well as seeing other wild animals. We knew the Rockies would be spectacular but they definitely exceeded our expectations, and the mountains certainly wowed us the most – especially Peyto, Maligne and Moraine Lakes. It was unlike anything we’d seen before.

There was a good selection of Canadian wines and beers wherever we went, which we were very pleased about, and we tucked in to a number of delicious evening meals, especially in Banff, Jasper, Tofino and Yaletown. The Canadians were so friendly, we always felt welcome and the sociable atmosphere made our time in the country even better.

We really enjoyed our time on this Canadian self-drive tour through the Rockies, and we’ll definitely be recommending Canadian Sky to all our friends who fancy exploring British Columbia and Alberta.

We would like to thank David & Ann for sharing their story with us and hope to welcome you on another holiday soon..
