Tropical Sky: Luxury Holiday Specialists; Amazing offers on Luxury Holidays, Honeymoons, Long Haul Flights & Holidays throughout the world.

Boasting a plethora of islands, many with their fair share of hotels and resorts to choose from and all with fantastic beaches, the Caribbean is the archetypal ‘fly and flop’ destination.  However, for those wanting more than just a week on a sun-lounger, there are loads of other ways to while away the balmy days.  Here are a few suggestions:

• Visit Barbados during Crop Over - The Crop Over festival was originally celebrated to mark the end of the sugar cane harvest.  Now it is probably one of Barbados’ most eagerly awaited annual events, with plenty of merriment, lively concerts, a decorated float parade and the crowning of the King and Queen of the Crop.  This year it takes place from 3 July until 2 August, 2010.
• Eat breadfruit in Jamaica – If you stay in an international resort, you could easily miss out on this staple altogether. There’s no missing it at the annual Breadfruit Festival, held in August. Jamaican breadfruit is one of the oldest and most versatile Jamaican food used in a wide range of Jamaican food recipes, so a must-try for foodies.
• Spot humpbacks in the Dominican Republic  – Eighty per cent of the world’s humpback whale population mates and calves in the Bay of Samana between January and mid-March, making the Dominican Republic one of the best places in the world to spot these elusive creatures.Â
• Gorge on chocolate in Grenada – Grenada is known as the spice island for good reason – for those with a sweet tooth,  Its chocolate is worth the visit alone!  The Grenada Chocolate Company shows guests the various stages of production and lets them buy the chocolate and drinking chocolate powder afterwards to take home.
• Swim with stingrays in Grand Cayman – Grand Cayman is one of the best places to see, feed and stroke stingrays. What’s more, in some places on the island, they come so close to the shore that you don’t even have to get too deep into the water!
